I agree EHL. Just like I said in my previous post, Nene plays average D, average rebounding...
I can't believe someone agreed that Nene understands the game like only a few big men does.

Well, I can sorta see what people are talking about. The big knock on Nene is that he's lazy, or disinterested? Hard to say for sure, as we can't possibly know what Nene is thinking on the court. His supposed "laziness" and "disinterested" attitude on the court translates into inconsistency more than anything else. The guy isn't dependable night in and night out, sort of like Tony Parker (mostly Tony in his early days, less so now). Whether that's due to apathy or laziness, I don't know.
When Nene's on, he's like a bulldog version of Amare in terms of scoring. He does exude a sort of natural feel for the game, but he doesn't really use that to his advantage on the court, and it certainly doesn't show up statistically.

First time I saw Melo play this season tonight, and man his game disgusts me... terrible shot selection, holds the ball for way too long, and just a pain to watch on offense overall...
I hate the way he tries to play the post like he's Shaq, backing his *** up against his defender and expect to get bailed out by the officials. I'm not a Melo hater, and I still hope he'll become a star in this league, but watching him play right now disgusts me...

I know that it is extremely early but has anyone seen Melo's stats so far. They're atrocious.
PPG-15.7
FG%-27.2%
3pt%-10%
FT%-66.7%
RPG-8.3
APG-2.5
SPG-1.75
BPG-0.0
TOPG-3.25
Can you say pathetic? The worst player in the league can probably shoot 27% from the field. The assist to turnover ratio is poor, as usual. What's even worse is the fact that he doesn't have a single blocked shot so far this year. Earl freaking Boykins has 3.

An article I read today suggested Anthony is still reeling from his Olympic experience and with shaken confidence, his ego and spirit may have been effected. There has to be a reason behind this dreadful start. Who knows exactly what the reason is. Poor shot selection? Sure. But there's something more to it than that. Even if Carmelo were in a major funk, I wouldn't expect him to play as poorly as he has lately. Something is going terribly wrong here. I wouldn't be shocked if he were mentally rattled in some way. Even if I were a pure Melo hater through and through, I'd have to say "Man, that's not the Carmelo I remember. He's better than that."

Maybe MJ's gotta call him up again and tell him to "Be Like Mike"
I gotta admit fans are being very hard on him though. Yes he might have brought it to himself, but having everyone criticize you, from Olympic teammates to Denver teammates to fans, it's tough...

He is playing exactly like how he played in the Olympics (terrible), but yeah, he should be playing better, especially when Lebron and Wade (a guy who Carmelo was supposed to be better than)are tearing it up out there. If his confidence has been shaken, then the last thing he needs to do is start jacking up shots, because every miss will make it even worse.

I definitely feel for Melo... even though I'm not much of a fan of his.
But this is what the NBA is all about. They make superstars out of players before they become stars and if they fail to meet their crazy expectations, instead of trying to help them get back up, they kick dirt in their faces.

He played fine in the Olympics. He was given a chance to play bad in 2 games and from then on his time was too minimal to speak of playing well or poorly. You want to know who played worse in the Olympics? Dwayne Wade.

Melo played like crap, he played selfish basketball out of the team's offensive flow, played no defense and ran his mouth off the court. At least Wade hustled out on the fast break, shared the ball and played solid defense without complaining about PT, which is why he got to play more than Melo did.
