well, none of those guys got to the line at kobe's rate (11.75 fta/g) in the last 10 years, and only barkley and jordan ever got to the line at this rate at any point in their careers, each doing so for 1 season (barkley in '88, jordan in '87). malone's come close, and shaq's actually surpassed this pace (of course, partly by opponents design). no need for the rolleyes.

Freethrow rate can be a misleading for a player's ability to get to the hoop.
Paul Pierce, Kobe were looking for contacts so they can shoot freethrows.
Carter in his 2nd year, Jordan in his prime were looking to finish plays in the air, but that doesnt mean they were catiously looking for fouls.
If I have the athleticisms of Carter or Jordan, I look to jump over peple first before I wanted to use my shoulders or body to make contact with players to display ugly finishes.

Next time you watch LA play, you'll see him get to the basket and get fouled just as much as the stat indicates. Come on now!

And go get some tapes of Jordan and Carter in his second year. Both were just overjumping guys with explosiveness where defenders didnt even have a chances to make fouls.
But Jordan was still way better than Carter interms of look for fouls.
But Jordan and Carter would finish plays in the air, while Kobe and Pierce wouldnt after they draw some fouls.
It's all about airness.
