Oh how Yao's stock has fallen.
I'd take Howard or Amare over Dirk just because the two are young and are already great big men.

One on one, even one on two, when the guy they call the Answer is on a one-way trip to the basket, you better just foul him. People can hate all day about the number of shot attempts. But, damn, give him props for even getting them up. He's small enough to have every shot contested. That 39% shooting sounds terrible to the regular reader, but have you seen these NBA players lately?"

Something about Dwight Howard and his rebounding.
He is having a very similiar rookie season to Amare. Both were described as defensive rebounding monsters.
Howard is playing more minutes than Amare. In fact he is averaging just 1 rebound more than Amare as a rookie. Of course Amare played in the West and alongside Shawn Marion, and a team that wasn't playing in as many fast games so I'd say it's pretty much a wash.
Not sure why everyone is already predicting 15+ rebounding seasons. Couple of things that happened to Amare will probably happen to Howard too.
Once he becomes the main offensive threat or even go-to guy. He can't focus on rebounding and be as agressive he is right now when his offensive game is not involved that much.
It will take some time and fine tuning to get all of it together.

In the future, Okafor will average 24/12/3.

oh yeah don't forget about Big Al Jefferson, right now he isn't getting lots of mins but when he does watch out. I hate using this but per 48 min he would avg 20ppg and 13 boards.

If that's the case, then if he can become a 70% or better FT shooter, he will be a 26+ ppg scorer in the NBA. The guy has all the makings of a Dominant player. That is until Greg Oden comes to the League.
It feels good to see talented big men coming back to the game.

Greg Oden is going to be the next Eddy curry, i do not see why people are so high on him. As for the list, i would take Dirk over all those guys, Amare is probably second although a wnba player probably rebounds better than Amare.

Sorry to say you're wrong. Point Blank. The kid has a tremendous work ethic and a high learning curve. To call him the next Eddy Curry shows your ignorance. If you've never seen him play, please be quiet. I saw him as HS Freshman at the Peach Jam in ATL. I trust my instincts to evaluate talent much better than yours.

we'll see, i think alot of people were saying these things about Curry when he came out of high school, Money corrupts people especially young players. I could be wrong though, but until he makes it to the NBA and prove to me he can play, i will stand by my statement of him being the next Eddy Curry.

He'll be 19 in like a week. Right now, Okafor is better. They both have potential. Can't really say who will be better in 8 years.

I can't choose one. Looking at this list made me excited about this league's future as well as present. These 5 guys are vastly different yet you don't feel weird mentioning them all in one sentence. The NBA is really in an up-swing with all these unique players coming into age.
