Hawks/Pistons - Am I seeing things?
Hawks 86
Pistons 67
2:28 4th Q
I know upsets happen but this is weird. Is Sheed hurt?

Pistons mailed this one in from the start. Sheed and Dyess both have nagging injuries, but they would have played against a better team.
They just looked disinterested from the start, and Atlanta was on FIRE all game.

Atlanta played Detroit basketball. They were very agreessive on the defensive end (especially Walker)even when they were up by 20 plus points.
Hawks played great team basketball.

OK, so the Hawks basically just outplayed the Pistons all game. I guess this shows how much of a team the Pistons really are. What I mean is, they don't do nearly as well when one or two of their players are out. Usually, if a team loses someone with Ben's (11/11) or Sheed's (12/6) stats, it wouldn't hugely affect them. But every piece is so important to them that even if the injured player isn't the leading scorer, they sometimes look like a 6 to 10 seed team without him.
Does that make sense?

Atlanta will take some. Just cuz they're the worst team in the league (yes they are that bad) doesnt mean they wont win some. One blowout against an underachieving Pistons team is crazy because it is the hawks, but understandable.
I mean, the bobcats beat the Magic also.

The bad teams will always win a game here or there, you just pray that it isn't your team who they beat

Interesting little nugget here. Is Brown overrated as a defensive coach?
The Pistons defense became respected when Carlisle was the coach and his top assistant, Kevin O'Neill, helped architect that whole defensive scheme. After that staff was let go, Larry Brown came in. Along with Larry was Mike Woodson. After the Finals ended, Woodson was given lots of credit for the defense. Now, two years without O'Neill and a few months removed from Mike Woodson, the Pistons defense isn't playing nearly as well as they had been.
Just a subtle observation...

Kevin O'Neill and respected should never appear in the same sentence.

He may not have done well in Toronto, but he was one hell of an assistant in Detroit. That, you can't deny.
