I don't like this trade for a multitude of reasons. For starters, I don't like Vince Carter and never really have liked him. Even if I did like him, he's a shell of his former self. Physically, he's not as explosive as he used to be. He has all kinds of problems with his legs and sustains a major injury to that part of his body at least once per season. Mentally, he's just not the same player that he used to be. The Vince Carter of 4 years ago would size up Shaq and dunk on him with his genitals all up in Shaq's grill. Now, he won't even attack the basket if there's no one there. He's content shooting jumpers all day long. Even if he were 100%, Vince and Kobe is a match made in hell. Kobe will not be able to get along with anyone that needs as mant touches as Vince does. Kobe needs to a player like Odom or Hill who is willing to defer to him and do other things. Vince likes to do what Kobe does. Also, at some point in time Kobe will probably grow tired of Vince's laziness and apathetic attitude. A fued will ensue before too long. I'm not blind to the fact that Odom is not a great fit in LA. He's a guy that needs the ball in his hands to be 100% effective and Kobe will not allow that. He's going to isolate 50-60% of the game and that just doesn't leave enough touches for Lamar. We've basically turned him into a prototypical PF and he's got more talent than that. He might just have to be dealt at some point in time. However, I'd rather get 2-3 solid players in return for Odom that actually solve some of our needs. A PG, a PF, and another shooter would be nice. Vince does not solve any of our problems.
