Why does Miami being superior to Washington make the Wizards pretenders? Aren't the Wizards allowed to be good on their own, without comparing them with other teams? There aren't high expectations for them, and they're surpassing them right now, so how exactly are they pretenders?

No disrespect to the Heat fan, but the Wizards played one of their worst games of the season. The big 3 all shot like 25% from the field and Haywood was in foul trouble all game. Jamison had one of his worst games of the year. I'm betting the Wiz beat Miami on Wedensday. The Heat are great no doubt, but the Wiz players were just all missing shots tonight that they normally make.
Kwame showed some stuff, and you can believe the Wiz are going to be better than they've been once Kwame is starting. He's gotten into better shape and he guarded Shaq pretty damn well tonight in the second half. I think some of you are forgetting that the Wiz are missing Etan Thomas and Steve Blake also.

Always making excuses. Do the Wizards ever get beat in your eyes? They got smacked by 23. Thoroughly dominated with Wade doing nothing.

Vintage Shaq tonight, great to watch.
As far as Wade is concerned, it's not surprising he's getting injured, his toughness and hustle are so high sometimes that he almost plays too hard. Sometimes he just looks reckless. Reminds me of Gerald Wallace when he came off the bench for the Kings over the past few years. Always bouncing around and never quitting, but picking up knick knack injuries in the process. I hope Wade can stay healthy, he's far too fun to watch to be hampered by injuries.

I agree, Wade is so aggressive driving to the rim it's amazing he isn't hurt more often. He's going to have to adjust his game with more outside shooting because the constant pounding is going to wear him down.
He does it on defense too though, playing all out. His intensity is part of what makes him great, maybe he'll just have to get used to the injuries.

IF Shaq's been playing possum all year letting the rest of the Heat, in particular Wade, take the majority of shots, etc. It could be ugly against the Lakers on Christmas. Mihm and Cook make Haywood look like a strong man

Uh, Haywood is in fact very very strong. He also weighs 270 lbs at 7'0". Shaq will easily punish the Lakers inside, but what else is new. Game plan for the Lakers will be to take Shaq out of the game through fouls (players taking it at Shaq, Vlade flopping maybe, etc.) or letting Shaq dominate straight up but guard everyone else.
