He also said that he misses playing with Shaq, because it makes the game more simple, and pointed out how well Wade is playing in Miami to back it up. The local radio announcer took it as somewhat of a cheap shot on Wade. I'm not sure whether it was or not...

I don't think its a shot at him...it is a fact...having a big man like shaq will help the other players on the team, regardless of how talented the player is.
It helped Penny and Kobe and now Wade, all of who are very talented on their own. They can (well, could for penny) put up great numbers on their own, but Shaq makes thing easier.
I think it would have been a shot at wade if Kobe made it sound like playing with Shaq didn't help him but you can see that it is helping Wade....but he clearly said it helped him too.

I think he looked better on Shootaround then he did on PTI, but I guess that might be because PTI was more of a straight forward questioning and Shootaround was more of a joking around situation (for the most part, not the whole time).

Kobe Bryant has got to be the worst interview ever. It's like he went to the Michael Jordan school of interviewing, where students speak in cliches, don't give straight answers and don't take stances on anything.
Kobe Bryant must have answered about 50 percent of those questions with "I don't know." Yes, he does. Behind all the shoulder shrugs, the lip-licking and the general spacy look on his face, he does know whether or not Malone made a pass or his wife, or at least he has an opinion on it.
He's a great basketball player and always has something interesting going on, but as an interview, it's pretty lame because it's almost like he doesn't have the social skills or confidence to be able to commit to a definitive answer.
I learned almost nothing from that interview, as far as:
Kobe's thoughts on why sportscasters and fans alike have turned on him;
Kobe's thoughts on Shaq leaving;
Kobe's thoughts on his role in Shaq and Phil Jackson's leaving;
Kobe's thoughts on why Malone, Shaq and Phil have decided to play without Kobe;
Kobe's thoughts on whether or not Malone "made a pass" at his wife.
The answers to these questions weren't much deeper than a shoulder shrug and either "I don't know." or something equally vague like "They have to do what's best for them."
So call me a mad-wicked-hater or what have you. That interview was about on par with other Kobe interviews, and very few of them have ever been good or insightful.

i kind of agree with you there. him and cwebb my favorite players, but from talking to people i know, they wish the guy could just speak his mind and i do too. speak freely kobe, just let it flow.
you could tell he had things to say, issues to elaborate. why else interview with BSPN if you dont wanna say anything though? just be like "no comment", and keep it moving.

you see why the heck would you want to know? let the behind closed doors stuff stay there.
BTW the only reason i brought up the retirement thing is because i feel sorry for him. that tells you what i think about the media in this country. they have an agenda, and if it was me, id give everyone the middle finger for trying to drag my name in the mud

He's not going to give definitive answers because everybody already knows how he feels on all these things and he doesn't want to confirm what everybody believes. It was a PR move. No surprise.
His facial expressions and all those nervous ticks as Rawse pointed out, I have a hard believing anything that comes out of his mouth.

Because those are the questions he was asked. Those were the topics he was given to discuss and elaborate on.
He agreed to interview with ESPN to talk about those issues that I listed. When asked a question in an interview, have the balls to give a straight answer or even just say "No comment," or "I feel that's too personal for me to answer." As opposed to obviously dancing around the question, making stuff up or being evasive.
That makes for a bad interview.
Did you catch my point this time?

Like it or not, these are all major topics in the NBA. The NBA is something that I follow closely, and it's at the top of my hobby list. Why or what does it matter whether or not I want to know?
But you are asking the wrong question, of course. Your question should be, "Do I want to know?" Not "Why do you want to know?"
My answer is that when I see an interview with a recognizable or even not-so-recognizable NBA player, I am interested in hearing what they say on the issues pertinent to them. I am not interested in seeing someone elude interviewers.
You agree to do an interview. You are asked a question. You either answer it honestly, or you tell the interviewer why you do not want to answer it.
