I'm guessing that over the next few years, his remaining supporters will realize, one-by-one, that it's never going to happen. Three years from now there will still be a few fans saying "He's still only 26."

The year where he's been plagued by injuries and a lack of playing time was the last straw? I'm having trouble following that thinking. He didn't bring Antawn Jamison in, nor did he wish for injuries

Yes. Not only is he inconsistent as hell, now he's injury-prone and hasn't been able to find a role coming off the bench. I think those are legitimate reasons to consider a #1 pick a bust. If I can't call someone a bust until they've had a chance to take 20 shots a game then maybe it's also too early to call Carlos Rogers a bust even though he's been out of the league for three years.

I guess he could average 14 points and 9 rebounds if you gave him 36+ minutes per game and a ton of touches, but why would you want to give that big of a role to such a mediocre player?

Re: Kwame Brown - time to break out?
Kwame Brown is a good post defender and a good rebounder. He could be the ultimate garbage man as someone mentioned before b/c Hughes and Arenas do take a lot of shots but they are also very willing to feed the ball into the post. Kwame does need a change of scenery however. I think he needs to get out of Washington and get consistent minutes. He is a bust b/c he was picked 1st overall and has not shown anything yet. He is injury prone but the Washington training staff is just horrible.

Re: Kwame Brown - time to break out?
Its been time for him to break out for, oh, say, the last few years. I don't have much confidence he'll do anything more than put a decent string of games together before returning to form.

Re: Kwame Brown - time to break out?
So if a HSer is not killing right off the bat then he is a bust? Kwame, IMO, is a victim of being in a draft filled with HS big men drafted by teams who had/have no clue how to properly develop them.

Its hard to put up consistent numbers when you have 3 scorers who are definetly not shy in putting up a lot of shots. He's actually done a decent job the last 5-6 games coming off the bench, playing good defense and grabbing rebounds. I don't really see how you can call him injury prone now either. This is his first season missing any significant time with an injury, and it happened to be a freak injury too.

Re: Kwame Brown - time to break out?
If Kwame Brown needs constant touches to be an effective player, then he's not really that good to begin with. Brendan Haywood is not a very talented player, but he fit himself into the system and grabs boards when he can, scores when he can, and has had a nice season (for him) this year. Why can't Kwame Brown even do that? I don't want a player who sucks unless he is the center of offense.

So when does it stop being "right off the bat" in your opinion? Last year you called me out when I said Jonathan Bender is a bust as well, so you must think Kwame has at least one more year of it being "basically his rookie year."
