The only teams who can say they outdefended more teams than Phoenix (technically none) But in terms of style and dominance in the defensive end... Spurs, Pistons and probably equal with Heat.

The Suns are not known for defense.. thats a fact.

But like I said, its not like they didnt win games. If they were averaging 120 points a game but won only 30 games out of 82 then I can understand that they defnitely do not play defense.

But they won 62, scoring a lot, outscoring their opponents without "D".

Bottomline, the team who outscored you, played better defense than you. Think about it for a second.

I can easily say suns and heat are about non par in terms of offense/defense balance.

The suns scored more per game, allowed their opponents to score more also. But The gap was pretty big. heat scored less per game, allowed their opponents less points also. The comparison is more towards the difference in their scores and opponents scores.

And, yes, I like using the word "outdefended". Its not the technicallity of it.. its the intention/point of the word.

The problem with the Suns is not in winning regular season games.Their system is well suited to that and it would work better if they had a few more players with the right types of skills.The problem is that in the playoffs they are going to meet good teams with the time and motivation to exploit their obvious weaknesses.

They are tremendously entertaining,but basically the Suns are a one trick pony.If you stop their transition game they don't have much of a plan B.In the playoffs the better teams are going to defend them ten times harder and far better than they will in the regular season.

Its really very simple, IMO. Excellent offense, and Excellent defense beats otherworldly offense, and no defense every time they meet in the playoffs. In the NBA today, you're going to come up against Excellent offense and Excellent defense on the way to winning a title, so you better learn to play D, or you are going to lose.
