Speaking of that type of selfish play, it's exactly why Walker, Pierce, Mashburn and Carter didn't play. That style of play is anathema to everything Zeke believes in basketball wise. Not to mention Carter didn't even belong on the team. I suppose everyone has already forgotten what Pierce did for team USA this summer?

Most everything else in this thread is pure insanity.
i guess everyone has also forgotten about what Vince did for the last US Olympic team. Carter does not play selfishly and showed that with his minimal time on the court sunday.

If these players are truly unselfish, then they shouldn't be complaining about the lack of playing time.

Wow, so complaining about playing time is selfish, so players like Igauskas who suffer thorugh so many injuries and to acutally have a chance to play in the all star game, is selfish when complains about he only plays 4 minutes?...

Wow, I guess he's really selfish then. You are actually right, it's always nice to hear from someone who is unbiase. I can tell you are definately not a Pacer's fan.

Yeah, and your crap has nothing to do with Vince or the fact Zeke used to run the Raptors. Vince didn't even belong on the team so you have nothing to cry about.

If you want an objective opinion, eliminate from this thread all posts by Raptor fans, fans of teams the Pistons beat, fans of players who "think" they got screwed yesterday, rivals of the Pacers, etc., etc.

Well, I qualify on all those accounts, other than I'm a Pierce fan. That's about as unbiased as you're going to get, especially since I'm also a Pacers fan and used to be a Thomas fan. Thomas should never be aloud to coach the all-star game again. That was easily the worst job of it I can remember. I wish the players were complaining more, Thomas is getting off without any bad pub for this, what's the deal? I used to like Thomas, as a player anyway, but I cannot see how I could possibly respect the man anymore, this isn't the only thing, but it puts the icing on the cake. The only reason he has a winning team anyway is because the players on the Pacers are so talented. They could coach themselves into the playoffs. Thomas is far from a talented coach.

There's no use to fight a battle where you have no arguments and it's "you vs. everyone else".

Come on guys did you actually think the East was gonna be that close in that game. Especially with the Micheal Jordan lovefest and him shooting 9-27.

Huh? It went into Double OT, it looked pretty close to me.

And yeah you certainly are in the majority, everyone just loves Phil, Kobe, Shaq, Fox, etc.

We're not keeping you from your local mensa meeting, are we?

So Walker and Pierce are selfish? They lead the Celtics in assists. If they had a group of role players around them that could score on a regular basis, those assists would go up, too. Yes, Walker and Pierce take over a game when necessary, but that's what stars do, and that's what their coach encourages them to do. They're both making a concerted effort this year to get others involved.

I can't for the life of me figure out what Pierce did to ruin team USA. He pretty much kept them from losing every game instead of just the last ones. Did you see those other guys play? Pierce gave them a chance, and they couldn't throw the ball in the ocean. Pierce generally waited until the third quarter to become "selfish". He was third in assists on the team by a small margin to the two point guards. George Karl told him he was the scorer on the team and encouraged him to take shots. Then when they lose, Karl calls him selfish. I don't think Karl is the best guy to listen to, especially after his Bucks imploded last year, and even Ray Allen doesn't see eye to eye with him. Pierce was the scapegoat on team USA. He played hard and carried the team at times, and then got a slap in the face for it.

And if Thomas is concerned with selfishness, then why did T-Mac take almost every shot in the 3rd quarter? Anyway, you don't bench guys because you think they might be selfish in an All-Star game. When Pierce, Walker, Mashburn, and Ilgauskus were in the game, I didn't see any selfishness at all. With the exception of Z, who was hardly in the game, they all played very well with the minutes they were given, although I missed the second overtime because I didn't allot enough time to tape 2 overtimes, so I don't know what Pierce did then.

As for Carter, he was a top vote getter in the fan voting. People wanted to see him. He was pressured into giving up his starting spot. The least Thomas could do was give him more minutes.

In the West, Yao, Nash, and Nowitzki could've had more minutes, too. I bet there are a lot of disappointed people in China.

I am not a Raptor fan

When the Pistons beat the Lakers I was 9 and not a basketball fan yet

I'm not a big fan of any player on the East

Lakers are not rivals of the Pacers

Isiah Thomas is a snake. If you have some free time you should read what he did to the Raptors. He came in and talked about building fan interest in Canada. He drafted a 18 year old named Tracy McGrady and told him he will be there to nuture him into a star. After leaving in 98 the Raptors compleatly imploded and he told McGrady "that's the buisness kid." If they didn't draft a guy named Vince Carter, who Thomas dogged all weekend, the NBA in Canada probably wouldn't exist right now. By the way I think Vince Carter is a soft pansy, so don't go there about some bias.

He buys the CBA and starts holding his press conferences with his little femine voice and starts talking about how it will become the official minor league to the NBA with each pro franchise owning a CBA farm team. He sets a bunch
