Vince Carter score 50 twice, once against the Suns, and one against the Sixers in playoff.

Sadly teams are never gonna score in the 130's consistently and that's why the NBA is gonna end up as the 4th major sport behind Football, Baseball and freakin NASCAR!!!
Who the hell wants to watch PROFESSIONAL TEAMS!!! scorring in the 70's and 80's, with no running game and the shotting accuracy of Ray Charles! NOBODY except Miami and New York fans.
Face it, the NBA hasn't evolved, it has DE-evolved!!!

the same day that wagner scored 100 (for the first time in over 10 years) another highschool player dropped 101.

i don't buy this. i don't really need scores in the 130s to enjoy a game. i don't think the calibre of players and playoff teams has ever been as good.

Dude the championship team for the last 3 years has/had one of the weakest lineups to ever win a title. Aside from Shaq and Kobe that squad is scrub city and it clearly shows when the most players they've had in double figures is 3!!! Yet this is the best team the present NBA has to offer? Not a goo endorsement.
In the 80's EVERY championship team had at least 5 players in double figures and at least 3 all-stars.

and yet look where that championship team is now...fighting it out for a playoff spot. aside from shaq and kobe? the best center and arguably the best sg in the league on the same team. this team isn't even in playoff position? i think that speaks volumes about the strength of the teams in the eastern conference. the Lakers are an anomally in the NBA, the top teams in the west are stacked with amazing players.
who cares if there was three all-stars on the championship teams of the 80s? this might show that the other teams were lacking in allstar calibre players.

Really, hmm let's see
The Spurs and Timberwolves are your classic one man teams surrounded by a bunch of role players.
The Blazers have the opposite problem, 12 role players and no clear cut superstars.
The Mavs have a deep OFFENSIVE team, but have some of the softest defense ever seen!!!
That leaves the Kings, the ONLY team in the entire NBA with bench players capable of starting for multiple teams.
Don't even mention the Eastern Conference, they have NO GREAT TEAMS, hell even a poor man's imitation of the Bad Boys, the Pacers, may take it.

anyways, this has gotten a little off topic. scoring 50 points in today's NBA is much more of a feat than it once was.

actually, i had a conversation one day with my professor about basketball, and he said that the reason why he doesn't watch basketball (as oppose to baseball and football) is because he can't watch a game where the teams score more than 100 points a game. he said that baseball and football are more exciting because any point that's scored could be the team's final points.

I don't know if the quality is there on a team 1-12 but I think the 10 best players from this era compare quite favorably to 10 players from any era.
Not in any order:
1)Shaq
2)Duncan
3)Kobe
4)Garnett
5)Kidd
6)McGrady
7)Webber
8)Nowitzki
9)Iverson
10)Payton,Francis, Pierce whomever
That is nothing to sneeze at. Maybe you can laugh at the guys at the end of NBA benches like Mark Madsen and Jelani McKoy.
