Darko Milicic has the potential to be good, he just has to apply his skills. Mehmet Okur is without a doubt better than Darko Milicic, more experience in the league. Is the main scorer for the Utah Jazz now (the main go-to guy), with the absence of Carlos Boozer due to an injury. Mehmet Okur has established himself into a legitimate big man, and has proven me something so far this year.

As a Piston fan watching both play, I liked Okurs game at the offensive end but he was average to below on D. Darko is better on D but hasnt really had enough time on the court to show his offensive skill. Watching his serbian team and summer league, he has a nice touch from the perimeter and also has some low post skills, his biggest obstacle heading into this season was his inability to get a fair amount of time with the starters( cause bench players usually try to pad their own stats in garbage time) this preseason and early reg season he was given time with the 1 unit and showed some promise. So to finally answer the question...I would take Darko simply because I think from watching Okur he has reached his potential and it is a decent level with limited defensive skills. Darko on the other hand has much better defensive skills and at 20 he hasnt even come close to his potential.

Okur is nice. But his contract is outrageous. If he made 7 a years he would be a great player.
But defense is the main issue. A 3 pt shooting big man is nothing compared to a beast shot blocker (which regardless of everything else Darko cetainly is.) Blocks, or the threat of a block, it the absolutel anchor of any great defense.
IMO a 3 pt shooting C is more dangerous (on the offensive side).
Here are the statics of Mehmet Okur and Darko Milicic

Ok, now let's post the career averages of Marvin Williams and Latrell Sprewell.
I'm sure everyone will pick Sprewell right?

Okur is a poor-man's Dirk Nowitzki, which is pretty damn good, and Darko still hasn't done much to warrant anyone getting too excited over him. I'm happy for him that he "dominated" during the preseason, but he still hasn't done anything meaningful in the NBA, and until he does I'll go with Okur.
