Re: Gilbert Arenas Olympics Bound
People who say that Arenas can't play off the ball or catch and shoot clearly dont watch Wizards games and he doesn't dominate the ball as much as the elite guards do also, and he still manages to ave 6 assist on a team with no lowpost threat and bad shooters.

This whole thread is based on assumptions. No one can possibly tell what kind of scenario will go down when those tournaments start.

The fact that Kobe and Arenas got invited doesn't mean they will play in WC or Olympics. Colangelo will select about 20 athletes who will take part summer camps, Coach K then selects final 12 who will play in WC.

You may not like Kobe, but don't bring Arenas into your prejudice. If you had the half talent either of them have, you would take the amount of shots they do. Stop bringing them down because of your stupid bickerness.

I'm curious about this 'stupid bickerness' you speak of. And for the record, if I had their talent, no I wouldn't play the way they do. There is more to a basketball game and a season than what's best for an individual possession. I've seen nothing from either of them that leads me to believe they understand that. By all means, though, you all should continue to support them, root for them, and enjoy their games. Just don't be surprised when they never get beyond the 2nd round of the playoffs, again.

Coach K and Kobe = Greatness. That's where Kobe was gonna go to school if he didn't go pro.

Re: Gilbert Arenas Olympics Bound
I don't understand why some people assume that Kobe or Arenas will play the same way for Team USA as they do for the Lakers and Wizards.
Look at Allen Iverson: when he's on a team "by himself," he is a volume shooter resposible for filling up the scoreboard and trying to get his teammates easy baskets. On Team USA, he is a pure PG, passing a lot, shooting when he is open, and generally playing as you would want your PG to.
I would love to see a Arenas/Kobe/McGrady lineup, because all of their talent would feed off of each other, and in turn, make each other better. Kobe, Arenas, and McGrady can all move the ball, but who on their teams are they going to swing the ball to?
You'd rather Antonio Daniels takes the shot than Gilbert Arenas? Arenas plays on a team with NO SHOOTING GUARDS!
You'd like Smush Parker to shoot instead of Kobe? His teams second best 3-point shooter is a PF, Brian Cook.
We've already seen what the Rockets perimeter looks like without McGrady...
The point is, these guys will have each other to feed on, and a guy like Kobe isn't stupid. He knows that an open Gilbert Arenas would have a better chance of making a three than him with two guys on his face.
On a personal note, I'd like to see...
PG: Gilbert Arenas / Kirk Hinrich
SG: Kobe Bryant / Ray Allen / JJ Redick
SF: Tracy McGrady / Vince Carter
PF: Elton Brand / Shawn Marion / Lamarcus Aldridge
C: Tim Duncan / Marcus Camby
VC is always good in int'l ball, he's got mid-range, long-range, etc. Elton Brand has been a monster, and I doubt KG shows up. Hinrich and Camby are tough, hard-nosed defenders. Give the college guys some love, too.

Re: Gilbert Arenas Olympics Bound
On another note, if Coach K sees something in Arenas and Bryant that he wants on the team, its good enough for me.

Great Idea in adding Reddick. Maybe add Morrison from Zaga as well... Shooters, lights out.
