Re: The Next Dirk Nowitzkis
Yeah, thanks for the Vid. He looks a little more athletic than Dirk and took it to the hole nasty in that vid. Though its not a good gauge, because it was a short highlight clip, Im pretty excited if this kid goes to the NBA. Whats his status with that?
If only the other 3 I mentioned in my first post played like that.

Re: The Next Dirk Nowitzkis
highlight clips don't impress me. The guy might be good but as of now he's all hype. He didn't even exist as a draft prospect on boards until half way through last year. he seems to be pretty good in league but not great, only 11ppg last year. When he equals or betters what Gasol did in europe, then lets talk.

Rofl
This season he's averaging 12 ppg (70% from 2, 44% from 3, 81% f.t.), 5rpg , 2bpg, all in just 19mpg (sux David Blatt !) ...
At the same time Dirk was in the german 2nd division (...) averaging something like 9ppg, 5 rpg, while in the last season with Barcelona, Pau Gasol averaged 11ppg and 5rpg
Well ...

Don't joke! The first highlights clip is really impressive if you think he's a 7-foot...
Then, like my friend italianBBlover said, Bargnani is averaging nice stats per minutes more or less like Pau the year before entered NBA...

Re: The Next Dirk Nowitzkis
Well one thing I noticed from that first video is that he can't finish with his left hand. He switched to dunk with his right hand when his opponents were to his right. I wasn't impressed, looked like a typical tall skinny player that we hear from all the time and turn out to be nothing.

You're way off on the numbers. Dirk was averaging 28 points and 10 rebounds in the second division, and averaged 23 points and 8.5 rebounds in the first division (Bundesliga) before he left for Dallas (the numbers are from the NBA Register). Mind you, the German league is rather bad by international standards, but he was the best player in the league, not some kid who got no playing time. (For some reason, NBA.com cites 17.5 points and 10 rebounds for the first season, but either are a far cry from 9ppg, 5 rpg.)

Wow, so I don't remember where I saw those stats ( 9ppg etc) and I didn't remember such big numbers in his pre-NBA career !
Anyway Dirk was playing 30-35 mpg in a team where probably he was the "main gun", while Andrea is playing 18-20 mpg (thanks David "dumb" Blatt) in a strong team with many big players like Popovic, Nicholas, Siskauskas, Goree, Soragna etc.
Try to image his stats with 30-35 ppg instead of 18-20 ... and playing for a middle-low team ...

A typical tall skinny (anyway he weights 240 lbs) player?!?
He's all but typical... have you ever seen a 7-foot with that 1st step?? I haven't...
