Just to clear a few questions on the selection situation of the Boston Celtics, I, with the help of many great sources, have compiled the conditions of the conveyed Boston Celtics draft picks that are both owned by the Celtics or by other teams with relation to the Celtics.
Los Angeles Lakers First-Round Selection (Gary Payton - Chucky Atkins trade):
2006: Top ten protected.
2007: Top five protected.
2008: Top five protected.
2009: Top five protected.
2010: Top five protected.
2011: No protection.
Cleveland Cavaliers First-Round Selction (Jiri Welsch trade):
2007: Top ten protected.
2008: No protection.
Miami Heat Second-Round Selection (Antoine Walker trade):
The Boston Celtics recieve a future second-round selection of either the Miami Heat or the Memphis Grizzlies.
Golden State Warriors Second-Round Selection (Walter McCarty trade; via Phoenix):
Boston recieves a '06 second-round selection (acquired by Phoenix through the Zarko Cabarkapa trade). The second-round selection is top thirty-five protected this season.
Phoenix Suns First-Round Selection (from the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, or Cleveland Cavaliers via Boston and Atlanta; Joe Johnson - Boris Diaw trade).
Phoenix will recieve a '06 or '07 (the first-round selection must be conveyed by the 2007 NBA draft) Boston Celtics-owned first-round selection. The first-round pick must be the lesser (or worst) of the selections that the Boston Celtics own in the year that it is conveyed. The selection is lottery protected in both years. Phoenix recieves the Los Angeles Lakers' '06 first round draft pick if the Lakers finish 14-30 and Boston finishes lower (or worse) for example.
