ya know? I thought every player does this?
Notice that the only athletes who actually SAY what's on their minds are villified - ie, Ron Artest and T.O..

Good point. Rasheed Wallace, too.
People don't want athletes to be phonies...as long as the athletes don't say anything they may disagree with.

Exactly. It's almost like fans are saying, "feed me crap, just don't tell me what it is."
Shoot, remember when get up in arms about what Shaq says (remember the Dampier diss during the playoffs and poster reaction?) when he spoke his mind?

Because Brian Cook is a huge liability defensively, Odom can't hit jumpers, and that's not the triangle offense, the only one Phil is interested in running.
Plus Kobe isn't good enough to average 10 apg. And the reason he doesn't have more 10 assist games this season is purely because his role in the triangle is as a scorer. It also doesn't help that the supporting cast is garbage.

If Lamar Odom doesn't show up, Kobe has no choice but to take so many shots. As of right now, that's their best option. I don't know what's wrong with Lamar Odom, but I guess he's not effective being the 2nd man. Look at Miami, he, not Dwyane Wade, was the star of that team and they made a good run. Lamar and Kobe just don't mesh, Lamar needs the ball to be effective, as does Kobe. They just don't click more often than they do.
|
Yup, pretty much. Additionally, a lot of the people who claim that Kobe is being selfish this season couldn't really tell you a thing about the supporting cast if you asked them.

Well that's true, but unfortunately that can be applied to about 75% of the league for its entire history.

Re: Kobe 'embarassed' by 81 point game
For some reason, it always surprised me how little media coverage Jordan got when news came out that he cheated on his wife and was being extorted by his former mistress. I know a rape case is in a different level but it almost seemed like Jordan's PR team worked their asses off to make those headlines disappear meanwhile Kobe's PR team abandoned him.

It's not the PR team, it's the media around him. The media really tries and tried hard during his career, to keep Jordan as positive as they can.
