Good point, AI has been putting up similar numbers with the exception of maybe averaging more assist. Nash took the NBA by storm, he made the most buzz last year. This year? so far its Kobe. Im not being a homer just stating the obvious...The Lakers are ranked 9th or 10 in the league right now, look at the cast KOBE has been provided with. Its obvious, with the excpetion of Lamar Odom our starting player are bench warmers in most teams, and our bench is not exactly loaded with 6th man player of the year talent either.... and guess what? LA is in contention for a playoff spot (6th) edging a lot of more talented teams and by the way they are just finishing their toughest schedule by far.
Please understand the logic between A GREAT PLAYER with a GREAT supporting cast which is most likely to have a better winning record than A GREAT PLAYER playing with a at best a MEDIOCRE lineup. This is where Kobe edges the Tim Duncans, Chauncey Billups, Lebron James and maybe a Steve Nash. Its a very fine line because at the end, winning is all that matters.
With that said I cannot imagine a
Elton Brand, Tim Duncan Lebron James,Chauncey Billups who clearly has BETTTTTERRRR teammates winning the MVP award over a Kobe Bryant who is leading...
Kwame Brown
Smush Parker
Chris mihm
Lamar odom
Sasha Vujacic
Luke Walton
Brian Cooke
...into a 6th place playoff spot.

The Lakers don't have the sixth playoff spot and they are one game out of the eighth spot.If you want to use that argument it's fine with me.Those guys are the 96 Bulls compared to the Hornets,so you are arguing that Chris Paul is the MVP.He took a terrible team and made it mediocre.Kobe took a mediocre team and made them even more mediocre.

Arguement is one thing..putting words into my mouth is another. How the hell did Chis Paul ends up in this conversation? So is .434% FG .276 3PT 16.Pts a game enough accomplishments for MVP consideration?....Chris Paul did not take a terrible team to a mediocre team. He is not the MAIN reason why the team is doing good, he is ONE of the reasons...totally different. Speedy Claxton and David West are having a good year, Desmond Mason is always capable of being a good player eversince he was in Seattle or Milwaukee nothinh new there..PJ Brown is always a soild player, JR smith has always been a scorer. Aaron Williams and Rasual Butler are consistent bench players. Keep in mind....Chris Paul was added into a team who has potential.
Lakers management has done what?..Add a underachieveing PF in Kwame Brown, and signed a 30+ injury plagued Aaron MCkie and Smush Parker which is a NBDL player, who was cut by several teams mind you, most notably by the Cavaliers because Dejuan Wagner was considered a better player...and where is DeJuan Wagner?. Its like a player getting cut by a team because Jack Haley is a better player than him..I know its way off but you get the point.
Do not be blinded by your hatred, its ok to give out opinions...but please refrain from making yourself stupid by telling the world "LA LAKERS without Kobe Bryant is a Medicore team "

Re: Lebron and Elton are coming back...
I'm saying it flat out.Take Kobe put him on the Hornets in place of Paul they are one of the worst teams in the league just like they were last year.Take Paul and put him in Kobe's place and the Lakers a better team.Sharing the ball is a good thing. There is plenty of talent on the Lakers, but they are not a very good team because they don't play as a team.

Yeah sure I agree playing team ball is the way to go. But as our records had shown..we're 0-2 this season without Kobe. And last time I watched..they were playing team ball...but there was no finisher. And the result is 2 consecutive losses.
But as you were saying .....
Chris Paul
Smush Parker
Lamar odom
Kwame Brown
Chris Mihm
will have a better record?

I cant believe they gave you all those rep points...

Re: Lebron and Elton are coming back...
2 games isn't that big of a sample to show team progress without kobe. they lost games with kobe playing too. and the plus/minus shows that the team plays better when he isnt on the court. kobe isn't and wont be the MVP. you cant be MVP by scoring alone. especially when you are doing it shooting 44%. you win MVP by winning. lakers probably wont make the playoffs. i was saying last year they wont make it. laker fans responded by saying all they need is kobe. look how that turned out. laker fans better worry about their team making the post season before they start tham MVP talk

Does Chris Paul "sharing the ball" have anything to do with the Hornets scoring 91 points per game (5th worst in the league) on 43% from the field (6th worst in the league)? The Hornets win because of their defense, and Chris Paul isn't exactly a defensive anchor. So him "sharing the ball" has nothing to do with it, and him doing that on the Lakers would be recipe for them winning 15 games. You put Kobe on the Hornets, and they're a 50 win team atleast. I like Paul, but let's not get carried away.

Making stuff up are we? Kobe leads the Lakers in +/- at +7.4 (actually Medvedenko leads at +106.1 but he hasn't played but a few minutes).

Last year, the Lakers had one of the five toughest schedules to close out the year. This year, they've played one of the five most difficult schedules so far, and they're schedule to finish the year is one of the easiest. It's pretty different, and not having your system and coach change should aid in a much better finish, not to mention Kobe probably won't miss a month of the season.
