Re: Why haven't the Pistons sent Darko to the NBDL??

I swear, the Pistons must have the best trainers in the league, no1 on their squad ever gets injured, WOW!

Since theres a coach of the year, executive of the year, there should be a trainer of the year.
And the pistons trainer would have a dynasty LOL!

Besides, I'm sure he's benifiting from practicing every day with Ben Wallace and Sheed...more so than he would going up against a bunch of scrubs in the NBDL
he can rebound misses in practice.

stand under the rim with his hands in the air and have players try and get the ball in over him

just two of many things.

If you honestly think that's what he does, then you obviously have no clue what you're talking about.

What do they have to lose? Their bench is deep in big men. Is Darko's good luck charm of being a human victory cigar really that valuable to them??
Sorry for stupid question but: what is NBDL? I'm not from U.S. and never heard of it.

For real.

The past few years, Ben Wallace: 81, 74, 46 (this year) games played.
Rasheed Wallace: 67 (all 22 for the Pistons), 79, 46 games played.
Antonio McDyess: 77, 46 games played.
Mehmet Okur: 71 games played.
Tayshaun Prince: 82, 82, 46 games played.

This team is unreal.

Re: Why haven't the Pistons sent Darko to the NBDL??

to be honest, while i'm not the authority on darko or anyone, the most trouble i have with him in detroit is that he's spent now three critical (imo) seasons of his development on the bench. that's just a fact (unfortunately). of all the people i know, i just can't imagine a man's talents not being compromised somewhat in that situation.

18-21 years old. sitting on the bench, watching game... after game... after game. i think i mentioned it elsewhere, but i believe that even michael jordan would've had his abilities tested in that sort of program for those 3 years of his youth. in other words, even if darko had great talent initially (and all testimonials do point to this, granted), has it really helped him to be so inactive?

i can certainly see the potential positives here (like learning his game from a championship roster in practice, learning the system and nba customs/standards from the best seat in the house), but i certainly wouldn't develop my players like that. i'd have to find another way. it's easy to suggest--- "learn from these champions and all-stars from watching!"--- but likely more difficult to put into practice.

no matter what he does from this day forward, i'll always wonder what would have been.

peace
