Why haven't the Pistons sent Darko to the NBDL??

Why haven't the Pistons sent Darko to the NBDL?? He isn't really getting any playing time this season, sending him to the NBDL could speed up his development and even raise his trade value if he is showing great progress over there. What do they have to lose? Their bench is deep in big men. Is Darko's good luck charm of being a human victory cigar really that valuable to them??

Re: Why haven't the Pistons sent Darko to the NBDL??

Because the NBDL is for 1st and 2nd year players, Darko is in his 3rd year.

Darko's too good for the NBDL to be honest. I understand the logic and all, but he's one of the backups they'd use if someone got hurt. Then he'd have to step up as either a backup (like Antonio if one of the big guys got hurt) or possibly even a starter (highly doubtful).

The kid can play, he just went to a really good team.

Re: Why haven't the Pistons sent Darko to the NBDL??

For the same reason they won't trade him: they don't want to admit the fact that in draft that was liking shooting fish in a bucket, Dumars managed to miss the bucket altogether and shoot himself in the foot.

Re: Why haven't the Pistons sent Darko to the NBDL??

Darko's just destined not to play.

But, as Weasel put it, he's in his third year, it isn't possible. It'd be neat to see how he'd perform though, considering the only thing people we can compare him to are Toni Kukoc, Eric Piatkowski, and other great bench riders of our time.

Re: Why haven't the Pistons sent Darko to the NBDL??

Are you guys sure that Darko isn't elligable in the NBDL?

I could have sworn that I have seen Marcus Fizer playing in there and he's been in and out of the NBA for more than 4 seasons now hasn't he? or am I mistaken.

Re: Why haven't the Pistons sent Darko to the NBDL??

marcus fizer doesn't have a contract with an nba team tho i dont think, or he may be getting paid, but isn't a member of a team

and for darko yeh same thing as everyone else, even if he could play they would just be admitting defeat, #1 is future of the league, #3 is probably just missing out on ASG coz he is in the forward heavy conference, #4 is a backup or potential starter in the ASG, #5 is the starting guard for the east

#2 gets to watch his 5 team mates make a serious run for all the backup positions

You've forgotten how good Toni used to be? Putting him in the same context as Piatkowski is just wrong man.

Yes. He's a 3rd year player, under contract with an NBA team. Teams have been permitted to assign 1st or 2nd year players to the NBDL. This had been mentioned in one of the early posts but people seem to be ignoring it. Why?
