im having a hard time believing those stats.
someone prove me wrong

how do you have a hard time believing that???
you are the PRIME example why players get snubbed. u dont watch basketball. u watch your own team, and thats it. then when its time to pick a center on the ballot, u think, "well, yao is big and he POPULAR and does a lot of COMMERCIALS, so i guess i'll pick him"
ignorance

Relax you misread my quote.
Read the quote again, I didn't say that people were not afraid of Camby, I stated:
MORE people are willing to drive on Denver with Camby underneath than to drive on Houston with Yao underneath.

Re: marcus camby...
A center's main job on defense is to clog the middle. That means intimidation OR shot blocking. Getting blocked from behind doesn't intimidate anyone. Camby doesn't clog the middle like Yao.

Re: marcus camby...
Camby's strengths lie in weakside shot blocking, rebounding and shooting jumpers. Yet opposing centers shoot a much better percentage against Camby (as opposed to Yao) and he has cooled down after an amazing start. Denver was a .500 team during Camby's hot streak, not the impact player fans in Denver want to believe. Even though this board is obsessed with using fantasy stats to determine a players value, Yao has the greater impact on the court in terms of defending the paint, man on man defense, drawing double teams, passing to cutters (which JVG never utilises) and always contesting/altering shots.
Yao averaging 21, 9.9, 2.1 since his return from injury playing alongside McGrady. Helps not to have 3 defenders denying you touches.
Yao is outplaying every center in the league right now, the only argument is whether Gasol deserved to make it over Camby. And if you look at games played, then yes. Easily.

That's ridiculous. Which player on the All-Star team isn't "really that good?" It is about marketing and popularity, but saying that's all there is to it is being willfully ignorant.
Not to mention - the All-NBA teams take 15 players. The All-Star teams take 24.

Re: marcus camby...
No, Camby is by far the better defender. Yao might be an ok defender, but he's one of the most unathletic players of all time. He simply is too slow to defend athletic players and gets murdered when he is forced to try. He's still a good player. But Camby is one of the best defenders in the league. He hasn't "cooled down" after a hot start, he's been injured and barely played since getting back. That's not cooling down, that's recovering from injury. As I said before, the only thing Yao is better at is post up scoring. That's it. Camby's impact is far greater.

Funny how Yao was the only guy in the league last year who could contain Amare...
Camby is the slightly better defender overall, though his man defense is ordinary. Yao is the better scorer and passer, and he draws much more attention from defenses.

Re: marcus camby...
haha, is this one of those things where if you repeat something over and over people believe it? Camby's man defense is not "ordinary", he doesn't allow his opponent into the paint and blocks their shots. He's spectacular on defense, period. Yao is the most unathletic player in the league.
