Poor choice of words?
College players get paid well enough when after graduation they have no loans to payback.

considering what they do for the schools, the amount of money a good team can bring in... psh.
Tell you what, for all the "free education is enough for college players" think about this.
Usually, well just about all the time, head coaches of college basketball teams are the HIGHEST paid people on that campus. Care to justify that?

Slaves got a roof over their heads and free food for their troubles too. The massa took care of all that.
And sometimes if the master was a good master, he might drop a little petals of education on his slaves. Sounds an awful lot like college athletics to me.
College is a crock, and the athletic programs are a joke. For the most part big time college sports amount to little more than exploitation of poor people by rich fat cat advertisers.

Somebody is paying the coaches. You are never richer than your boss.

That you act like this is a radical notion which has not been floated before is kind of a seering indictment of your own life experiences. Expand your mind and start seeing the truth of the world. Telling someone to slit their wrists just because of your own ignorance is kind of sad. If I had a prayer group, we'd pray for you.

Yea, someone is paying the coaches, and the guy cutting the check is usually making less.
Ex. Mike Jarvis (when I attented St. John's while he coached there) Made around 2-4 mil PER YEAR. The highest ranking school official made significantly less than that.

Re: Is Ronny Turiaf The Biggest Cheerleader In The League?
additionally how non-major sports and women's sports are treated by most schools is also deplorable and another reason to do your best to give college athletics the finger. They never make cuts to the football team. It's always something like women's swimming or track and field. Which just further illistrates how much about the money college athletics is.

This happens in the world everyday 95% of the working world doesn't make 1% of what their empoyers make as an organization. Not having to pay $50,000+ dollars after graduation is a great benefit to have.
Another flaw in this argument is how would these players get paid from an amount standpoint? What about recruiting? I am sure Duke University or UCLA could pay it's student athletes much more than Showan . What about equal rights from a gender standpoint? Should football players get paid as much as the golf team or field hockey team? Paying money to college athletes would only complicate things. Bad idea!

Who cares! 99% of the athletes graduate and have to work in the real world like you and me, but the only difference is in some cases these athletes are getting an education they wouldn't otherwise receive for free.

Re: Is Ronny Turiaf The Biggest Cheerleader In The League?
Moochie Norris/Mark Madsen/Mateen Cleaves rolled in to one.
He would fit right in with Houston's bench....they stand & cheer for every gotdamn thing. I still remember the first perseason game against the sixers...they were giving standing ovations after every basket

I know plenty of old timers and HOFer's that claimed defense in the late 90's and early 2000's weren't as good as the 80's. Wilt once said he'd average 70 ppg in the modern-day NBA because defenses were so much worse. Pippen once said KG was a stats guy who disappears down the stretch of games. Bill Walton once said Rasho was a better interior defender than Tim Duncan because Tim Duncan was on the bench at the time. Barkley once said Argentina was located north of the Indian ocean.
