Re: Deron Williams

im just curious, why dont ppl think he will be a billups like player???

big and strong
shoots 3 well
scoring mentality

i know 95% of comparisons are based on pigment of skin, but i think if he learns how to use his size to post up small guards like billups does, he will be much more like chauncey than j-kidd

Williams has been playing the 2 guard a lot this season, but he is a much better player at the point. But I think it may be good for him because then he could play both positions when needed. He did great the first of the year and was 3rd or 2nd in the rookie standings, then he hit the rookie wall, now I think he has climbed out of the rookie slump with his amazing performances the last 7 or so games.

Has CP3 played much SG or has all his minutes went to PG?
I believe Paul plays mostly the PG. I've seen people call him a "pure point guard". He's a pass first, score 2nd type of guy which is why his assist numbers are pretty good (#1 amongst rookies, #7 amongst all players). I laughed at both Jazz/Hornets meetings this season because during just about the entire game, the 2 guards were being compared. I was like "OK! Enough already!" LOL!

Re: Deron Williams

does anyone have a link to the chat text?

Nvm I found it, this is a quote from one of the questions he answered.

"No. I like Salt Lake. It's a great city. There is no traffic. It's a great place to raise a family. The fans are great. It's all good."

Re: Deron Williams

Hey AK-47, see, it's things like this that led me to believe that they were happy to have been able to get Paul. I wonder if they thought he would be #3 and Deron would be #4. So of course with their #4 pick they'd have selected Deron....

Scott loves to tell the story about draft night in 2005, when the Jazz chose third and the Hornets chose fourth. Scott believed that Paul -- "C.P." as he calls him, or "C.P.3." as metropolitan Oklahoma City calls him -- was destined for success. But did Utah?

When NBA commissioner David Stern announced Utah's pick -- Illinois point guard Deron Williams -- Scott admitted, "There was almost shock in the room." Scott believed greatness had slipped to fourth.

I think the link you posted was the first that I had read where they said they would have gone for Deron. Anyway, I watched Dallas and Utah last night. Deron struggled a little. Paul struggled too on Friday night. Deron has been picking his game up a lot since getting into the starting lineup. I think he's grasped onto Sloan's system.

We were thrilled to have the opportunity to draft Chris, who I thought was the best player in the draft at any position,” said General Manager Allan Bristow. “This is a huge step towards getting this franchise moving in the right direction and a great day for the future of the Hornets. With Chris and J.R. Smith, we now feel that we have one of the most dynamic and explosive young backcourts in the NBA.”

Yeah, I remember all the talk of who was going to be #1 in the draft, paul or bogut. I was supprised the hawks took williams, when they should of went for a PG and got paul. That way the jazz wouldn't get all the crap on them of not drafting paul, because they wouldn't of had the option. Both players are going to be great, no question in my mind, I was happy with either picks. But I liked the idea of a bigger PG. Like Jason Kidd.

Re: Deron Williams

Deron is the 3rd best PG in the 2005 draft.

You heard Paul or Bogut? I had always heard Bogut or Williams. By the way, who was the Hawks' point guard at the time that they felt they didn't need a point guard? Tyronn Lue?
