While there's no logical argument against this statement, what garnered my respect for Wade was the way he played this season when Shaq was injured. He absolutely took over and proved to me that he wasn't just Shaq's pet like I used to think. I still find the Heat commentators and Wade fans annoying as sin, but Dwyane definately has my respect as a superstar now.

Yup, and overall impact and the actual amount of time he's on the court (30 mpg versus Wade's 39).
It's pretty clear Wade is the same player with or without Shaq.

what's hard to understand is your insistence in emphasizing Wade's greatness in relation to Shaq, while Wade has proven over and over again that he is a great player in his own right
like I said, play with good/great players help no matter who you are, but there is no need to add an asterik on players who play along side some. Some are justified, but in Wade's case, no.

Actually, the extended title should read:
For all the knocks about Wade's long-range shot, Carmelo is equally bad and never takes any crap for it.

I know that both of these players will improve this over the years(hopefully) but this is pretty sad guys, no matter how you look at it...

Re: For all the knocks about Wade's long-range shot...
Long range shooting is overrated nowadays. He doesn't need it. If he does improve his 3 pt. shooting it just means he'll be a more complete player. The guy knows what his strengths are and he goes ahead and does them consistently and that's slashing and his mid-range game.

Shaq gives everybody better looks. His impact transcends beyond his stats.

im not saying shaq is the difference between wade being average and great. hes great without shaq but shaq just makes everyone a little better...makes everything a little easier. its not a bad thing.
