Oh and wait... didn't Jermaine O'Neal turn his career around once he got playing time, learned from his mistakes at a different team with a different coach?
|
Brown has been getting solid PT since he broke into the league. O'Neal's top PT for a season was like 12mpg. Rasheed Wallace (you may remember him as a Blazer - he wasn't too bad) played ahead of O'Neal - who was holding back Brown? O'Neal was just about getting solid PT - Brown's been getting that since day one. The first year Jermaine got over like 12mpg, he put up 13/10/1/3. Kwame's stretch of ten games hasn't even beared such fruits.
All I'm saying is players like Olowokandi, recognized as probably one of the worst big men in the NBA, had better entire seasons than Brown has had 10-game stretches. Just trying to keep it real.

Re: Kwame Brown- The next Ben wallace
i havent read through the whole thread, but kwame always finds himself lost on help defense. he is never in the right position, too often he just watches the guy go right past him, he doesnt even rotate over to make the guy change directions.
if by next ben wallace you mean a raw offensive player who is strong enough to bang around underneath, then yes. if you mean a good shot blocker and defensive anchor, then absolutely not.

Obviously, he meant the former and not the latter. But, you know... this board loves to have something to bash, and if you bring up a comparison, if every dimension isn't over analyzed and precise - you get bashed.

Re: Kwame Brown- The next Ben wallace
Getting dominated by Yao ming does not make Kwame, now a bad defender. Yao has dominated everyone, inlcuding Ben wallace. Kwame strenght is bodying up guys and making them take 12 to 15 footers. The thing about Yao,is even if you force him away from the basket,he can still hit that 12 footer because at 7-5 he can shoot over you.
Kobe lit up Ron artest TWICE. Does that make artest a bad defender.

your focusing to much on scoring. Kwame is a waaaaaaay better Low post defender then Olowakandi. Thats what the Lakers need. Low post defense.Lakers dont need kwanme to be a dominant low post scorer because kobe does nmajority of the posting up in the Triangle offense.
Kwame had 5 points against the Miami heat, but was 1 of the keys to the game because of his 1 on 1 defense on Shaq. That allowed the Lakers to play straight up on the shooters. Same thing when the Lakers beat Detroit with Rasheed wallace, Spurs with Duncan.
I dont care about Olowakandi's little 10 points a game. Id rather have 7 points and great low post defense over 10 points anmd horrible low post D. Lakers have no problems scoring.

but he isnt forcing Yao to shoot 15 footers...Yao is playing his game. in his comfort level, against Kwame's bad defense. Kwame doesn't contest shots. like i say...don't confuse good defense with strength. kwame is strong, but a terrible defender

True, but Spurs fan trolls that only post about the Lakers suck even more. Especially when they haven't even graduated HS.
