Re: Bulls or Magic

Who are the True C/PF?

Ok, maybe Howard is a True C, that I can give it to you, but Milicic is nowhere near a true PF. He is closer to a SF. Face up player, below avg low post...

Darko is the C. He is 7'1'' and he has an extremely good post game.

Darko is not a C, NBA Live might have him at C, but everybody in the league knows he's not. Dude's a face up player. And how does he have extremely good low post game? I think 50% of the time, he's not even IN the post.

Let's see, 7'1'', 250 pounds, great shotblocker, great low post defender, great postup game. How is he not a center? Maybe you should actually watch Darko play.

Re: Bulls or Magic

I like Jameer Nelson and Dwight Howard..reminded me of Marcus Camby and Damon Stoudamire when they were Raptors.

Re: Bulls or Magic

a year ago one would have laughed at the question of who is the team of the future as the bulls seemed to have everything going for them with curry/chandller/gordon and hinrich......right now i like the magic's potential better but i would want to see what comes out of the draft this summer, the bulls with the knicks pick have the potential of getting someone that could put them over the top, maybe a pf that can score like bargnani, and the magic will come out of the lottery with a good player and if they get lucky maybe a real good player. stay tuned.

Darko is not at all closer to a SF. First of all, defensively his is a definitely a true big man. He excels in being around the basket and blocking the shots of his own man or in help defense.

Offensively he likes to shoot the 18-20 foot jumper but that doesn't make him a SF. He's not going to be taking anybody off the dribble or creating his own shot on the perimeter. You act as if there aren't jumpshooting big men while the league is full of them. But his post-up game is much better than you would expect, though you would have had to watch him closely the last 2-3 weeks to know that. Of all the times Orlando has actually posted him up, I hardly remember him failing.

As for the thread topic, I think Orlando is somewhat like Chicago was a couple years ago when Curry and Chandler were still all about potential. Had those two guys developed Chicago could be a contender right now. But Curry turned out to be the lazy slob a lot of people thought he would be and Chandler has not developed at all like most expected he would. In Orlando's case, they've got one hell of a group of young guys right now. Howard and Nelson have already proven they can play at a high level and most expect Howard to be one of the top few big men in the league within a few years. And Darko hasn't done it for long but he has shown flashes of brilliance and in terms of style of game, he appears to be an almost perfect fit next to Dwight. And Orlando now has a solid bench of not too old players in Arroyo, Dooling, Hedo, and Battie. And they've also got Ariza who is only 20 and has shown flashes and the rights to Fran Vasquez if he ever comes over.

So right now I think you have to go with Orlando. If they play their cards right, they could be a contender in 3 years. Maybe with a real possibility of a lineup like:

PG Nelson / Arroyo
SG Brandon Roy / Dooling / Stevenson
SF Rashard Lewis / Hedo / Ariza
PF Darko / Vasquez
C Howard / Battie

Re: Bulls or Magic

Bulls, they have more game changers on their team than the Magic, particularly Tyson Chandler and Ben Gordon.

If anyone has watched the Bulls this year, they may are probaly the 2nd deadliest team at small forward in the league, just behind the Cavs who have that damn Lebron guy there. But the Nocioni/Deng combo at Small forward is just really great.

Tyson Chandler, even with his poor start, is statistically the best rebounder in the game. He is a great shotblocker, and has game changing defense, if he works as hard as he says he is this summer, watchout. This season is kind of a bad example, since he got married, and hardly worked out at all, but since like January, when he got in shape, he has been good. Watch things like the Celtic games, Tyson is actually reading offenses, and knows guys like Pierce's tendencies, and uses that to his advantage, not to mention he is a freaking freak athletically. He may be the best defensive player in the league.....if only he could throw down a dunk....god, the old Tyson's defense with Eddy's offense thing, honeslty, that would be a beast of a player. A top notch defender, with a guy who can throw down a dunk better than anyone in the league, as well as with post moves, but as it is, Tyson is a stellar defender, but he can't put in a basket to save his life.

Ben Gordon, he's solid right now, nothing too special, although he has shown glimpses of stardom. He just needs to gain consistency.

Kirk Hinrich, has proved he can take over a game, if he drives to the hole, unfortunately he only does that like 6 games a year.

Bulls have good defense too as a team overall.

They will have a top 3 pick this year, around #16 too, as well as a ****load of capspace, and a good ticket in the Greg Oden sweepstakes (GOD I HOPE THE KNICKS SUCK AGAIN!)

Magic, they have Dwight, who is going to be a stud, and they have some good role players in Nelson and Hedo and Darko, but they could use a star/semi star shooting guard.

And I'm biased towards the Bulls, but both teams have a great future ahead it appears.
