Love the game, and play well because he practiced more
or
Get more minutes, and gain confidence/play better in them
Seems fair enough, because those scenarios never EVER occur...

they get more minutes cause theyre playing better/harder.
mike james was traded to a bad team so thats a little different.
yeah, they all "love" the game int heir contract year .. of course after they get the deal they always "love" it less... right

Drastic improvement during a contract year does draw a lot of questions as to the motivation tbehind the improvement. I think it is something that should be taken into consideration when the voters decide but I don't think it's fair to eliminate all contract year players from consideration.
