Robert Horry --- WHAT DOES HE DO NOW?
The guy has won 5 rings already, and may make it a 6th this year. Since his rookie season in Houston, he's been an excellent role player for the Rockets and the Lakers, hitting an abundance of clutch shots throughout his career. The guy has done all a player his caliber can do and maybe a little more, and now at age 33 he will be a free agent this offseason most likely, if the Lakers choose not to give him the team option offered. His weak knees are about to give in, and he has more than enough money to live happily ever after. So, what does he do now? Retirement would be the most likely option. A player that has accomplished as much as he has will not even be a Hall of Fame player, and so that could urge him to sign maybe a 3 or 4 year contract to finish out his career.

I have him signing with San Antonio. Detroit wouldn't be a bad idea, either. Or how about back to Houston? Horry won't retire, there are too many teams that will be offering him a pretty good chunk of the MLE to continue playing, he'll keep playing.
Horry has no shot at the Hall of Fame, there's nothing he can do to even begin to merit consideration.
I don't think he'll be back with the Lakers REGARDLESS. That team needs to shake things up, they also need to trim payroll. How about Rick Fox to the Cavs for Ricky Davis? The Cavs REALLY need to get rid of Davis, and they need to bring in somebody who knows how to win, Fox will have to work. The Lakers, as I said, need to shake things up, and they also need a third scorer. If the Lakers threw in their 2003 first round pick, the Cavs would definitely make that deal. After that stunt Davis pulled a couple of months ago (shooting at his own basket), I gotta think that trading him is a major priority this summer for the Cavs. Don't tell me that he "is a big part of their future" or "their best player"--this guy is a L-O-S-E-R, he's gotta go, plus he cannot co-exist with Dajuan Wagner, no way. I don't think he can co-exist with Kobe, either, but the Lakers are so determined to shake things up that they may make that deal anyway.
If the Cavs make this trade for Fox, make that rumored deal with Dallas (Nick Van Exel and Raef LaFrentz for Zydrunas Ilgauskus and Michael Stewart), drafted, say, Darko Milicic in the draft, and if Reece Gaines falls into their lap at #30 overall, take a look:
Starting lineup
PG Nick Van Exel (40 mpg)
SG Dajuan Wagner (36 mpg)
SF Darius Miles (32 mpg)
PF Darko Milicic (20 mpg)
C Raef LaFrentz (36 mpg)
Key reserves: Rick Fox (24 mpg), Carlos Boozer (20 mpg), Reece Gaines (20 mpg), DeSagana Diop (12 mpg)
End of the bench (no PT): Chris Mihm (trade bait?), Mystery Minimum Salary Free Agent #1, Mystery Minimum Salary Free Agent #2
Smell ya later (not re-signed): Jumaine Jones, Milt Palacio, Smush Parker, Tierre Brown
That team is still terrible, one of the 3-4 worst teams in the league, but at least you've gotten rid of Ricky Davis, at least you've acquired a promising young C (LaFrentz, who is not a good fit in Dallas), at least you've solved your PG problem (although Van Exel is not exactly a winner), at least you've brought in a steadying veteran influence with three championship rings (Fox), and at least you have a young stud building block (Milicic). I don't know what you do with Darius Miles and Chris Mihm, both of whom will be restricted free agents in 2004. If you can trade Mihm to somebody, ANYBODY, for a 2003 first round pick, you need to do it, even if it's one of the bottom 7-8 picks, because I cannot imagine that the Cavs plan on re-signing this guy in 2004, may as well get SOMETHING for the guy. Miles' stock is at rock bottom right now, so you really have no choice but to hold onto the guy and keep your fingers crossed that he has a big year in 2003-04.

I think he is going to re-sign...maybe negotiate around to see if he can get to a Championship contending team but otherwise he'll take the cut before going to an east coast (losing) team

No way he leaves.. he'll stop and hope he can ride Kobe and Shaq to tie or pass Russel in rings.
Could happen.

I know your bells really start ringing and you get very excited when you see those COUNTLESS Kobe, TMac, KG polls, about
- WHO CAN JUMP HIGHER?
- WHO IS A BETTER ALL ROUNDER?
- WHO IS BETTER THAN MJ?
- WHO HAS A SEXIER BODY?
- WHO IS A BETTER?
- WHO HAS BIGGER FEET?
- WHO IS BETTER THAN MJ?
ooh... did I repeat myself? That was totally against the point
But... it gets kind of old. You seen one, you seen them all. Appreciate the finer points of basketball, role players lead to a team's success as well. At the same time it will broaden your basketball vocabulary a little, atleast from Kevin Garnett to... oh Kurt Thomas. Know who he is?

I just know one thing for sure, whichever team he finally ends up in, it's the one I'd bet all money for the next NBA Champion. This guy is a like a magnet to the rings...

Only three things will happen
1. Retire
2. Stay with Lakers
3. Go to Houston to be closer to family and sick daughter.
NOTHING ELSE!
