It really seemed like his game was more controlled under this offense and it limited the wear and tear on his body, thus allowing him to play at a higher level longer. I'm also concerned about AI's future. If he keeps taking hits like he is right now he'll be out of the league by 30. I'm sure Larry Brown has a set offense but I don't know if AI would curtail his aggressiveness like MJ did?

How else can you explain a guy playing so damn well into his 40s? Stockton and Malone have also benefitted from having a set offense. I think not having a set offense is really going to hurt AI.
Pinball, I think you are definately right about the Triangle. And not only did it reduce the wear and tear on his body, it helped him to play extremely efficiently for the first three qtrs., allowing him to be that much better in the fourth.

Yes and no. The triangle offence really made MJ change his offensive game dramatically. It made him into a better post player especially later onto his career. By doing that he got banged inside but he did not need to waste a lot of energy running all over the court. It also forced MJ to get stronger and I believe his fitness allowed him to extend his career more than anything else but the fact that the triangle would benefit the most with him as it's premier post player made him get really stronger. Honestly I just believe that it was MJ's fitness and work ethic that allowed him to play so late into his career and at a top level for a long time without major injuries. Same can be said for Malone...that man works out like crazy. I have never seen stronger arms in the NBA than that man...not even Shaq.
