Ny-s.a.
brent barry and rasho nesterovic for steve francis plus 3 mil..
with Van exel retiring they need another dynamic guard, also they are supposedly getting luis scola from overseas so they are unlikely to be keeping both nazr and nesterovic.
the knicks need a quality backup center and getting a pure shooter at the 2 doesn't hurt them, with francis marbury and crawford there was too much duplication of the same talents.

Re: Ny-s.a.
Spurs indeed need another dynamic guard. But they don't need Francis - a guy that gets 14M$/year in salary till 2008 with player option, plays in one of the worse teams in the NBA, thinks that is a superstar in this league, and won't be happy to come off the bench. And (to say it once again) a player that I wouldn't trade my lunch for.

son, I dont think anyone wants your lunch
and you have no idea what francis may consider for a chance at a title contender.

? I don't care what Franics may consider or not and I never wrote anything about it. I'm pretty sure that he would like to leave the mess in NY for many teams, for sure for a title contender.
But it's not about Steve but about Spurs. I'm pretty sure they will not pursue Francis, because it make little sense for them. And basically for most of the teams in the league. I'd start considering signing him no sooner than he takes at least a 50% reduction of his contract.

seems like a deal New York would do, but Francis doesn't want to take the backseat.

Re: Ny-s.a.
Why would the Spurs trade for a guy who makes $14 mil and has yet to demonstrate that he has even the foggiest idea what playing winning NBA basketball is all about?

Re: Ny-s.a.
if this went down, the spurs would be incredibly talented, and favourites.... on paper.
team chemistry would be where things get messed up, i really dont think this would improve the spurs... and would be terrible money wise

its rare that one player ruins things in an established system with a respected coach on a winning team.
the spurs had glenn robinson on their roster after he refused to play at all for the 76ers and he played for them without incident.
tim thomas was told to go away from the bulls , and he is now indispenable for the suns.
nick van exel was a problem child yet he seemed to do very well in their sys. in san antonio.
coaches dont fear players , fans do. and i've always found it odd.

but he teams which picked these guys up didnt have to pay 14mil for each of them, if your Spurs management would you want Steve Francis ****ting up your locker room for 14mil and only playing as an average player

this is basically it, francis may not disrupt the whole team as such, but for what he would actually contribute (if playing how the coach told him to), you could get that production from people earning less than half what he's on per year.

Re: Ny-s.a.
as opposed to the great value the spurs are getting for their 11.3 mil. they have invested in brent barry and rasho nesterovic this past season.12.4 mil. next year and 13.4 the year after that.
i'm sure you pay alot less and get more production than you can from this duo as well , that was never the point.
steve francis gives more bang for the buck than the spurs are likely to get from this duo.
its a deal of overpaid players being traded for each other ...and giving their new team more of a benefit than they were getting | |
