What's your opinion on Vince Carter?
There are a lot of VC fans in this Forum. And a bunch of VC haters, too.
So, to try and understand what is this love/hate fest going around about Vince Carter, i thought about making this poll.
Feel free to explain your thoughts on the player...

There was a time when he was arguably a top 5 player. He's my fave player & the most exciting IMO. I say he's top 15. He can put together a string of games where he'll be completely unstoppable & definitely capable of performing like a top 10 caliber player in this league but he's just not consistent enough.

He's a great talent, but he's also his greatest enemy.
He has the talent to be right up there with the likes of Kobe, but he doesn't have that same mentality. He'll hit stretches where he has a meanstreak, and is attacking.. and then he'll follow that up by falling in love with his jumpshot and not being aggressive.
He's a superstar caliber talent, with a sidekick mentality.

I was going to go top-20, but then I counted off 20 players better than him. He's around top 18-25 I'd say.

He has a lot of talent but his shot selection is poor. Dirk has improved his shot selection and he's in the WCF, Duncan usually has great shot selection and 3 rings, same with Shaq and leading the league in FG efficiency and we can't forget Wade who also has led teams far in the playoffs.
Shot selection is really important in the playoffs when every possession matters. In a 7 game series, the percentages tend to equal out so the players who shoot more efficiently tend to win in the long run. Vince Carter is talented, but he went home early in the playoffs, along with other talented players such as Lebron and Kobe because they all have poor shot selection. Talent alone does not win championships.
