Remember backcourt 2000? Oh and throw in Googs name as well.
Oh and McDyess but he chose his own way letting Van Exel and Lucas pressure him into signing with a horrible Nuggets franchise when the future was so bright for him in Phoenix with Jason Kidd and future capspace.

Wow i never knew what a versatile and fantastic player penny hardaway was. What could have been. What a pity injuries brought him down. Hopefully a player that really resembles him- tracy mcgrady doesnt end up like him.

Amare Stoudemire...
Chris Webber (he was just as good as KG till he got injured), Vince Carter, Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, starting to look like T-Mac could be on this list...

Re: All Coulda-Shoulda-Woulda Team
The one name that comes to mind when I think of players that coulda shoulda woulda is Raymond Lewis. He could have been the greatest ever. Even after Jordan. That's how good he was.

Re: All Coulda-Shoulda-Woulda Team
Dino Radja anyone? dude was close to a 20 and 10 guy that'd get you a couple assists and blocks a night with a steal. he was drafted in 89 but only played 3 seasons with the celtics. larry johnson is another huge notable, he was absolutely nasty in his best years with the hornets and knicks, its a shame his career was cut short due to his bum back. other big notables are the obvious in harold miner and j.r. rider, both these guys had huge expectations, and were pretty dang popular for a couple years, but seriously fizzled.

Re: All Coulda-Shoulda-Woulda Team
I actually have a surplus of Drazen Petrovic rookie cards.
And people who are saying T-Mac is dead on. He is all stats, he'll never win anything in his career, at best he'll be on a lower seeded playoff team with the team being led by him.

Re: All Coulda-Shoulda-Woulda Team
Karl Malone? What in the...
Apparently 2nd leading scorer of all-time, 14 straight all-star appearances... so on and so forth are a "shoulda-coulda-woulda"? The only reason he doesn't have a ring is because of the hands down greatest player in NBA history with the greatest sidekick in history.
Even still, the Jazz should have taken at least one of those Finals'. Remember the Eisley shot at the end of the shot clock that should have counted but didn't, then Harper did the same thing except his was AFTER the clock went off?
Yeah.
Come on... I agree with everyone here except Malone. Anybody top 50... arguably top 10 all-time is not a "shoulda-coulda-woulda".
Edit: By the way, I just noticed that Kidd, Magic and KG are on your list. Do you even know what we are talking about here?

Bench: Glen Robinson, Danny Manning, Christian Laettner, Keith Van Horn, Kendall Gill
Mine is a mix of players who had injuries (or death) prior to reaching expectations or were seen as vastly underperforming perceived talent level entering the pros.

i wouldn't say johnson or harper were very different than penny. the primary difference is that penny was at a slightly higher level (and he had 1 extra healthy season than lj had). none reached full potential (imo), none had more than a couple excellent seasons, and all were never the same after injury although they played many years afterwards.
not saying they aren't woulda-coulda's, but just that they weren't very different than penny.

Why did Dino Radja only play 3 seasons?

Re: All Coulda-Shoulda-Woulda Team
i really think the expectations around harold miner have been greatly distorted over the years. he wasn't drafted that high (12th), and never really established himself as much more than a high-flying, decent scorer.
