I agree. I'll admit that I don't particularly care for soccer, even if I've played it occasionally and watched it fairly often with friends both live and on t.v. (Italian, mostly A.C. and Inter). And this was even before I became a basketball fan. Basketball, unlike soccer or baseball, seemed to me more of a sport that required more overall skill (of course all sports emphasize different skills, but basketball seems to demand the most). I'm not saying soccer or baseball is boring or terrible, but both seem to draw a large part of their popularity from culture, history, and tradition.

Soccer is the best sport in the world.. Not only does it require you to be in the best shape of any other athlete on earth.. it is purely a game of teamwork.

Flopping is more of a part of soccer than basketball.

i feel the same way to baseball, but i do enjoy watching it on a lazy afternoon or evening since you dont need to continually pay attention. its entertaining if you just keep an eye on it and dont expect it to keep you riveted for 3 hours straight.

and believing soccer is boring isnt just something you see in america. my dad grew up surrounded by people who loved soccer and he never liked it. he preferred basketball.

I would say acting is more of a part of soccer than basketball. That's what really annoys me during soccer games. They receive contact and act like their going to die or something just to earn a free kick.

Soccer is as great sport, but an open minded person can still think that Soccer is boring. I know it is a beautiful sport, but it one of the most boringest sports to watch in my opinion. I guess its my personal preference which is why someone else may love it. However, I respect the sport and its fans. I try to watch though to support the US.

Re: The NBA must be big in Italy

No commericals for 45 minutes. Long enough half time to get something to eat plus skip all the commercials. Come back to the sofa and another 45 minutes of commerical-free sport. CANT GET ANY BETTER WAHAHA

Re: The NBA must be big in Italy

Soccer is fun to watch. In general just watching it for 5 minutes youd think it was boring but two things make it not.

1. There are no stoppages. There is no stopping for fouls or even commercials.
2. Theres ALWAYS the possibility for a game changing thing to happen at any moment in the game, unlike in bball for instance where such plays only really happen at the end.

Re: The NBA must be big in Italy

soccer and basketball are completely different and both of them are beautiful. it is difficult at first to like soccer because if you dont play it you might think its boring.
what really happens is, you dont have any control on what happens on the field and you just keep runnin and runnin which is amazing. plus its the only REAL team game where one player just cant win games for a team without help.
