when the lakers came to town last year, i sat next to a young laker fan. she was decked out in her kobe bryant jersey. she wasn't alone, as there were many fans of the lakers in attendance. some couldnt even spell "kobe" right on the signs they made.. anyway to get to my point, laker fans are one of those teams that you can find fans anywhere. they are kind of like the yankees of basketball, so to see them at a sonics game isnt all that unusual. is it correct that you live dallas? why don't you cheer on the mav's? do they need to move as well?

it does look like the sonics will end up in okc not long after the hornets leave. i think a lot of the "hornets mania" or whatever you'd like to call it here in oklahoma is based off the fact that the hornets are the only pro team of any sport to call okc home for a change.. and a temporary home at that.. i think if/when the sonics come to town, the new "buzz" will of course be.. goooo sonics! hopefully the sonics/hornets are supported wherever they may end up...

Im interested to see how the NBA will react to this move. Will Oklahoma suddenly become part of the NBA's Northwest division?

Yeah i dotn understand why the sonics need another new arena. I mean isnt Key area only 10 years old? I remember the sonics playing in Tacoma washington for a season in the mid 90's. I dont under stand why demand another arena?

The KeyArena is a great arena. The reason they want another arena, or to renovate the Key, is because they want more VIP seating. More space for restraunts, more things to pamper the rich fans. That's the biggest problem most Sonic fans have - the new arena is only going to benefit a minority of the fans. The rich ones.

Re: Sonics SOLD

The arena also has the smallest capacity; 17,061, or something of that sort. The training facility has been sold to the Gates foundation a while back and will be available to them when the lease expires (or rather, when the Sonics move), so getting a new training facility is also a need. The City of Seattle will not be able to get any sort of negotiation done in what really is six months. They have to go to legislation in Jan/Feb, and THEN we should know FOR SURE that "they tried, but a deal just couldn't get done..." and the players will have to pack up and move in the summer. It's just sickening. 39 years of support down the tube for one good season of transplanted basketball from a city devastated by a hurricane, to justify an NBA franchise in OK City.

Re: Sonics SOLD

They sell out when the upper echelon teams come, particularly on weekends. I think they averaged about 15,500 fans a game last year, or something around that number. That's fairly good considering they were abysmal to watch last season, and because of the fact that the arena only holds 17,000. & of course, the Seahawks being undefeated at home and Superbowl bound didn't exactly help the Sonics attendance numbers, yet I don't think they were too bad. Of course, this is all rough estimation and speculation.
