And it's not just an acknowledge taht AV is good but that his defense and rebounding at least equal out Nene's advantage on offense. Both players are not All-Star player but we're just comparing the two vs each other

I notice a lot of people are behind the times and think Nene is better than Verejao. But Nene hasn't really developed his game much because of injuries, and Anderson has. Verejao has a much more complete skill set, and just seems to be the better player.

Did you see the date of that first post? It was when a lot of people didn't know a lot of about AV and were more familiar with Nene and he's asking a question indicating grammatically is it a misguided opinion. I think you're overblowing the tone of the first post greatly

Well personally, I think the "behind the times" comment was meant to imply that people judge the AV of a couple of years ago to the Nene of a couple of years ago, and are thus not making a fair comparison of the two players today. I don't think it was meant to imply "primitive" or anything like that.

And as far as the "misguided opinions" part, that wasn't directed at people who think Nene is better. Sounded pretty lighthearted to me. Just a half-joking way of asking people their opinion on the matter.

There's no reason to believe that the "misguided opinions" was in reference only to people who think Nene is better.

It was probably directed at people who think Nene is better for an invalid reason (i.e. because Nene was better two years ago).

Yep Nene looks really good. Anderson is still the second best player on the Cavs. Leading the NBA in charges drawn too. Incredible defender.

But offensively Nene looks fantastic. He still doesn't look like he's all the way back. Hopefully he can stay healthy.

All that is good and well, but I believe the issue was whether Varejao is a better player than Nene. Just come clean, along with your cohorts, and you won't be berated.

Varejao is a bench hustle player. Nothing more, nothing less. Of course Nene has more gifts then he does.

2009 now. And still a good question regarding Varejao vs. Nene.

Season stats's

Varejao 9 points per game, 6.9 rebounds per game. Nothing else stands out stats wise for Andy.

Nene 14.7 points per game 8.0 rebounds per game 1.43 BPG 1.28 steals per game.

Both playing great this year, but no doubt Nene is on the verge of being an all star, and Varejao is about where Nene was a few seasons back as far as production.

Nice to see these two guy's getting better though, and nice to see Nene making a full recovery after his fight with cancer. Both guys' stock should continue to rise as they continue to get better.

What a dig for a thread.

The difference is also in reliability. Cleveland doesn't really rely on Varejao that much, if any. Nene seems to be more of a necessity to the Nuggets, than an extra body.
