The burning question
With all the talk about steroids in sport at the moment, I'd like to pose the question... is Shaq on steroids?
Alternatively, I'd like to pose this question. Is he just a big fat *****? Just kidding. Gotta respect Shaq's game even if you don't like it, just for the sheer power. Still, maybe he's a big fat ***** on steroids. There is some definition to that fat. Cheers Brett |

I dont think Shaq is on steroids. If he was he would have gotten huge very quickly his size has gradually increased over the years.
The problem with shaq is that his entire game is based on his physical stature and not skill. Sooner or later there will come along another player bigger or same size as shaq that will have some real post moves (other than a jump hook in the lane/baseline) and a 15-20 foot jumper that will make everyone forget about shaq. I hope Yao Ming is that person, but I am biased

Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."-The Holy Grail |

"The burning question
With all the talk about steroids in sport at the moment, I'd like to pose the question... is Shaq on steroids? " After reading the last issue of SI and then watching the '94 world championship video just tonight - watching the Shaq I liked when he first came into the league - I'd say it is a safe bet he was on them the last couple years. He has all of the signs and even admitted in his book he took "muscle enhancement drugs". (I don't have to be hit over the head to know what "that" means!) Steroids can really affect the joints - arthritis attacks the joints and maybe "arthritis" was a nicer term to use when TRYING to explain Shaq's problems with his toes. His weight gain was sudden, as was the extra "mass" when you observe his neck now and his neck from 3 years ago. If you watch any videos of Shaq during his first years and then watch him in your videos of the last couple years - you'll have an answer that looks like this. ![]() Physically and skill wise both, He didn't EVER need to take them, but they also give one an "attitude" and he certainly stepped up his "attitude" the last couple years. I don't think he is on them at present because of the scare from his latest kidney results and because now - he might not think more rings are as important as his life. I sincerely liked the "old" Shaq more than the latest one. (I can't type tonight!)

That part about his kidney tests can be found in Shaq's book.
