Re: The All-Overrated Team
overrated/underrated threads are always a case of "depends on who you ask" because some players go from underrated to overrated in no time, and vice versa.
Kevin Garnett used to be overrated, but now nobody talks about him. I think he is underrated now actually.
Shaquille O'Neal is overrated. People swear by his "impact" but he is dangerously close to like Zydranus Ilgauskus status.
Pau Gasol is underrated. Do people realize the Grizzlies were fighting for the spot of worst team in the league without him, and with him they've proven to be a 45-50ish win team with him? He is valuable because a gifted offensive post player who can draw and pass out of doubles like him is easy to build a successful team around.
All wing players are overrated, just by nature of being the most crowded position. If almost every team has a star wing player, then they aren't really stars, because that means a lot of stars are actually only average at their position.

Re: The All-Overrated Team
PG - Mike Bibby - No defense, turnover and injury prone, doesn't rebound at all, not a great passer, severely overpaid.
SG - Manu Ginobili - Made by Tim Duncan, switch he and Jason Richardson's teams around and see how many people are about him.
SF - Adam Morrison - Terrible player, extremely overhyped. Couldn't defend a WNBA player, atrocious rebounder and can't score at all which is scary considering that was the one thing he did at a high level in college and what would make him a star in the NBA. He's not only not Larry Bird, he'll probably never be half as good as Wally Szczerbiak.
PF - Rasheed Wallace - Brings so many negatives to the table. Technical fouls, lousy rebounding, horrible FG%. The only thing he does well is defend but that's not nearly enough to outweigh all the bad.
C - Andrew Bogut - What a huge bust Bogut has turned out to be. Probably the worst defending big man in the entire league, he's another poor rebounder and his offensive game, while not really bad, certainly isn't great either. He's really no better than Primoz Brezec.

D: he has high BBall IQ and makes few mitakes
E: his salary isn't really that high.. so he's a bargain at the price!!
The only reason I can think of that you think he's over rated is because we, the Rox, traded Rudy Gay (project) and Stromile Swift (cry baby) for him.
At this point, looks like the Rox got the best part of that deal.

Minny is 500 in the West. That's not horrible, especially considering everyone on that team except KG is terrible at basketball.

I disagree. kevin has been getting some help from randy foye [a rookie with a mean crossover] lately and they are winning some here and there.

this would be true if every man was the same player, but they aren't. each wing brings a little something different to the table, that little something being largely conducive to a win or a loss. no player is equal to another.

jason richardson? the spurs are built on ball movement and defense, richardson does neither. also, the spurs are a much weakened team without ginobli healthy. the warriors without richardson are actually somewhat better in my view.

Re: The All-Overrated Team
Overrated stars:
Lebron James: people thought he would be worlds better than Melo. I still can't believe he won ROY as easily as he did. The guy might be all kinds of talented but he is just not a winner. The Michael Vick to Melo's Vince Young.
Steve Nash: even though this might be his best statistical year to date, he doesn't deserve an MVP. He got more than compensated the last two years for his teams that didn't even sniff the Finals. I remember the good ole days when you thought if you had your MVP, that would be good enough to make the Finals.
Dwight Howard: I won't even pretend that I know anything about the Magic. But I do know that hear a lot about them. And when I see and match it up to what I hear, it doesn't look that impressive.
Tracy McGrady: I think wearing the #1 for the Magic curses players into 2-3 unbelievably productive seasons that give Magic fans false hope, then a whole bunch of disappointing injury-riddled seasons.
Overrated by coaches, analysts:
Kirk Hinrich: This guy can struggle through 3 games of a COMBINED 89 minutes, still averaging 30 minutes a game during that stretch, a COMBINED 15 points on 7/25 shooting, ZERO free throws attempts and this is the Bulls FACE of the franchise? If this is our face, someone please hand us a brown paperbag.
Overrated draft picks:
Shaun Livingston: Haven't gotten to watch the Clips lately, but when I watched them against the Iverson 76ers this year, this guy was playing way too much doing way too little. As his stats have gone up, the Clippers win to loss ratio has gone up.
My team would be:
Dwight Howard
Lebron James
Tracy McGrady
Kirk Hinrich
Steve Nash
And just for more fun:
Overrated by Bulls fans in trade proposals. Usually this was in comparison to Ben Gordon.
Jason Richardson: Is his knee injury that serious?
Mike Miller: Not all 6th man of the year awards were created equal.
Monta Ellis: I remember when people were saying earlier in the season that he was the consistent version of Ben Gordon. Call me old school but I always thought the original version was just fine. Not a bad player though.

Re: The All-Overrated Team
I agree with most of what you are saying. Hinrich seems to be a little bit overrated by coaches. This, IMO, is Hinrich's peak year. His stats will never be better then this. He will be a quality defender for years though.
Other thoughts:
KG- I think he is quite overrated. He is a 3-quarter player. He cannot close teams out in the 4th. If you are the best player in the league, you should be in the playoffs every year. That said, I would want him on my team any day of the year. Guy plays harder then anyone in the league.
Livingston- I don't really see how he is overrated. He is VERY young and he was replaced early in the year by Sam Cassell. The coaches need to give him more PT. He does what he can with the minutes he's given. He'll be better when he's got more experience.
Bogut- Only in his second year. He had a serious injury in which he wasn't supposed to come back from it for, i think 3 or 4 more weeks, instead he was "ready" for the season opener. He's still averaging 12/8/3 and was in a bit of a lull the last few weeks. His old coach came over from Australia and since that time has sparked his play a lil bit. So much for Terry Stotts eh? I personally never expected Bogut to be a 20/10 guy, especially immediately. As far as the defense goes, it has been very not good.
All in all I'd say he probably was overrated to be a number 1 pick but wait for him to get more experience and be a 2nd option.
