How is Yao Ming overrated? He's the best center in the league by far, yet people still clamor for Shaq over him.

If you've watched him play at all you'd know that he's a versatile swingman, capable of playing about 3 positions well including guard.

The only reason I can think of that you think he's over rated is because we, the Rox, traded Rudy Gay (project) and Stromile Swift (cry baby) for him.
|
The team U.S.A. selection is another reason why Battier is over-rated.

At this point, looks like the Rox got the best part of that deal.

After the first two months of the season...
You cannot seriously expect that deal to be considered an even swap when all is said and done.

Re: The All-Overrated Team
Anyone with half a brain could see that the success or failure of the Battier trade will be judged upon whether or not the Rockets win a title in the next three years. If you are stupid then you can pretend that teams make moves within a vacuum.
Anyone who understands the game might realize that you make moves in order to achieve objectives and that there is only one ultimate objective. This was a great trade for the Rox if only because you demonstrated that you were serious about contending for a title.

Re: The All-Overrated Team
In perspective, here is my thoughts. An overrated player to me is someone expected to be a star or a superstar that falls through. Battier to me was never expected to be either. He was expected to be a solid go-to guy around Yao and Tmac.
If you expect him to win a championship without those two.. yes he is over rated. But he's not overrated as far as what is expected of him. He does EXACTLY what is expected of him... so he can't be overrated.
He was given his spot on Team USA for the same reason. They had enough "superstars" and needed people who could play with the big names. Hence Batt's inclusion.
As far as the trade to get him... I agree that its still inconclusive as to whether it was the smartest deal in the long run for the Rockets, but in the short term basically taking Shane from the Grizzlies and they fell apart, while he is doing as well as expected holding together the Rox with the two star players having injury issues. In introducing the trade I was trying to figure out reasons why he could be thought of as overrated.
And yes Shane can play 3 positions, but the majority of the time.. he's playing a SF or a PF. I have yet to see him play SG for the Rockets.
Okay back to your regularly scheduled player bashing

That is a stupid notion that he's overrated, especially for how much people say he is one dimensional, and one of the worst leading scorers in the league. He is definitely underrated. Especially seeing how Kirk Hinrich of all people will get credit for the Bulls success over him.

LMAO at the editing No personal attacks!

Re: The All-Overrated Team
After seeing Iverson in Denver, he's still overrated. He still dominates the ball, still takes wild shots, and still turns it over.

Re: The All-Overrated Team
Im sorry but Battier is not overrated. He plays and is known as the teams third or fourth option. He does not underachive nor overachieve, he plays fundamental basketball on both ends of the floor.

They want him to do that till some of those suspended players come back. He's also been distributing the ball, from what I've seen/heard. Had a 13 assist 28-30 or so point game.
