Re: Arenas "Id Score 84 or 85 against Duke"
Well I find it funny. How can you get upset over a guy saying he'd score a lot of points against anyone? This is what MJ did...he had constant challenges.

I'm not upset, not at all. I actually think it's funny, just at the expense of Gil.
MJ challenged himself to reality-based humiliations. Gil's is a delusion-based humiliation, especially since he got his *** handed to him by the team.

Webber was in his prime in his last two seasons with Washington; he played 70+ games. He only had less points per game because of hisfree throw shooting and Washington's 2nd best player played the same position as Chris Webber. They weren't a bad team either; MJ called them the team of the future. They really didn't have the right pieces to make a good team and they ended up trading their best player.

Re: Arenas "Id Score 84 or 85 against Duke"
Well Gil has challenged himself to 50 vs. Portland and Phoenix. He's 1 for 1 so far with Portland left to go. He said he'd play Duke like it was "NBA 2k7"...he's obviously not delusional about actually scoring 84 or 85 against them. I'd bet he has already done it on his XBox actually...I'm looking forward to an update from him. He'll be on his blog like "well I've done it, I dropped 85 against Duke in NBA 2k7 last night!"

Sorry Gil, you had your chance.

Arenas played injured against Duke. He separated his shooting shoulder the game in the final 4 game against Illinois.

Re: Arenas "Id Score 84 or 85 against Duke"
Anybody who has seen a real interview with Gil knows that he's a humbled kid from humbled beginnings. That's the real Gil, people who say he's quirky or insane, all that stuff is just Gil's personality with the media. He's already said alot of the stuff he does now just because people expect it. None of his teammates or coaches or anybody who actually knows him has ever called him cocky or insane. Antonio Daniels said he's the most down to earth star player he's played with. And his actions don't represent somebody with a big ego. Dude travels around with no entourage, answers his fans on his My Space page, he's basically the most fan friendly player I've ever seen. He's connected with his DC fans more than most stars can.
Gil is an entertainer, when he's doing interviews he's basically saying whatevers on his mind, regardless of how ridiculas or crazy it is. You either appreciate it, or you might prefer the typical bland superstar who spouts cliches.

Re: Arenas "Id Score 84 or 85 against Duke"
I like Gilbert(check my sig), but it seems to me that he likes the attention he gets in the media a little too much. And this whole revenge thing? Get outta here. Like previously stated, he didn't deserve to make it, hence he didn't. But if he wants revenge, then for goodness sake, ATLEAST say "We beat the Suns and now we're going to beat Portland". These comments with him saying "I'm going to get 50" just make him sound like a selfish egomaniac who would rather get 50 than actually win the game. Who cares how many points you get, just do what it takes to win.
Still a big fan though, he's just getting a little annoying lately.

He's still good for the game. The fact that you're annoyed at him proves this. Anytime a player can get on your nerves or get really funny, it's good for the game.
