Re: The Lakers don't need Kidd
Kidd would be good on any team that has good finishers around the basket and/or spot-up shooters (see how well role players like Boki Nachbar and Mikki Moore are playing this season for the Nets). I am not even talking about the fastbreak here.
Also, Kidd does not dominate the ball as much as you think. You only have to look at the current Nets to see that. Carter is the one who holds the ball more. Kidd (like Kobe) also brings rebounding, defense, a fierce will to win, on-court leadership and intangibles that a young team like the Lakers needs. Don't underestimate Phil Jackson either. He can make it work, if anyone can.

Re: The Lakers don't need Kidd
The idea that Kidd doesn't make any team in the NBA better is absolutely dumb.

Re: The Lakers don't need Kidd
Agree partially. Kidd's an atrocious jump shooter (hasn't improved one iota in his career) and can't possibly fit into the slow methodical triangle. It would be Gary Payton 2.0. But I don't agree that Bibby would be better, his shooting isn't much better.

I would never claim that Kidd was a good or reliable shooter, but what you are saying is patently false. His shooting has improved by leaps and bounds even just since he's been in NJ.

I agree with this. There's no team (except the Suns) that wouldn't be better having JKidd as the PG.
As for the "triangle offense", screw that. A great coach adaptas to the players he has. That is what Pat Riley has showned during his coaching tenure.
If Phil Jackson doesn't know how to capitalize having the second best PG in the NBA playing alongside Kobe freaking Bryant, get rid of his old ***!

Well, his fg% hasn't improved since he's been in NJ, so if his jump shot is better, what's gotten worse? His layups?
