Pimped Out thats not the point, Kobe can score regardless. The point is, if they are trading for Kidd does it really put them on the same level as the top 3 teams in the West. If it doesnt, why would they give up a promising big in Bynum to take on Kidd's expensive contract
didnt kobe at some point show he can score off the ball? with a guy who almost exclusively looks to set other people up, i think kobe could be scorer.
Yeah, the first half of last year.
Odom and Parker started in the backcourt with Sasha and Walton being the guards off the bench.

Kidd brings a lot, but the tangible that would be much beneficial for this squad is Kidd's mental approach to the game. You look at LA"s back court and you see a guy like Smush who either looks defeated or simply does not care in most occassion and a guy like Farmar who is a rookie and will most likely not going to play in pressure situations. Im a big fan of him, but sorry to say he aint ready yet.
The opposition does not respect LA when it comes to PG match up ( one of LA's glaring weakness). Thats why you see the Steve Nash, Jason Terry's, Tony Parker's even an Eric Snow?...an Eric Snow? killing us in every game. Kidd is still a solid defender, whether its via help or man to man coverage he still gets the job done, thats always a bonus for Phil's defensive scheme.
You look at some of the Laker's losses, and most of the time it boils down to inexperience, I would love to have a guard in tight situations who has a vast experience, is not easily rattled and most importantly make smarter decisions than your average D leaguer.

The Nets have been lit up countless times by point guards this season. Kidd is still a pretty good defender, but he cant keep up with quick point guards anymore.
Kidd could defend, but he cant shoot and will take the ball out of kobe's hands....that isnt a positive for the Lakers
Since when has Kobe been a reliably good decision maker w/ the ball in his hands? For Christ's sake he had to be forced to pass the ball to Shaq. Is he better this year? Sure. But its not like the guy is... well... Jason Kidd w/ the ball.

And exactly how many such quick guards are there in the league, and who can guard them?

Still a spectacular team defender, and a good man to man defender on SGs, but he can't stay in front of quick PGs any more. If I were the Lakers and I traded for Kidd, I'd put Kobe on the PGs and Kidd on the SGs. A 30+ year old MJ guarded PGs. A late 20s Kobe should be able to as well, assuming he's willing to do the dirty work and give what needs to be given on the defensive side of the ball for team success.

That's more of me trying not to sound like am badmouthing Kidd, do you want me to go through the list of names of points that have lit up the Nets this year? The man doesnt even run out to contest jumpers anymore.
