Re: The Lakers don't need Kidd
I agree the Kobe Kidd bacourt would be amazing, prolly the best in nba history. When Carter and Kidd both do good nets win 75% of their games. As in Carter doing good I mean him having 30 points and Kidd getting a near triple double.

Sure, getting Kidd sounds nice, but if it won't keep Kobe there, which I doubt it will, and they go to, say a 6th seed from an 8th, what does that really do? Are the Lakers that desperate that they'll get Kidd just to be a tough out? Maybe since I'm not an Owner, and don't really care about revenue or anything like that, I don't think having Kidd is a good idea, because that's the only plus you'd get from adding him. This is strictly from a basketball/near future viewpoint.

If I were the Lakers, I might be willing to gamble that Bynum might be capable of making enough of an impact on the front line by next season's playoffs that getting Kidd this year might be worthwhile.

I agree, getting Kidd without losing Bynum should be the only option in the Lakers FO. Make it happen Mitch!

Re: The Lakers don't need Kidd
If you were the Nets GM why in the world would you not want Bynum in a Kidd trade. And for goodness sake stop overrating the guy, he is an above average center, I doubt he will ever see any all star games, so please stop with the if the Lakers can hold unto Bynum talk.

Whether they like it or not, its Bynum or bust for the Lakers. He's the best shot they have at having a big player on their roster who can consistently make an impact around the basket on both ends. And you need someone like that to become a contender. Of course the Nets would want him, but they may not be able to get him. And maybe that means no deal for the Nets, but I was talking more to whether or not it made sense for the Lakers to pursue Kidd, and I think it does, esp. if they can get him wo/ giving up Bynum.

in a league where there's not many good centers and with bynums improvements on both sides of the floor and his work ethic that kobe praised this past week there is no way the lakers would give him up. the nets gm might want him to the point where he dreams about him but it's not going to happen.

Re: The Lakers don't need Kidd
^Thats exactly what I am talking about right there. They don't have to deal with the Lakers. If Bynum isnt included in a deal, what players on the Lakers would the Nets want?
Bynum isnt even the best center in LA, I dont get where this whole untradeable thing comes from.

Dude Chris Kaman is not that much better than Bynum. If Bynum were getting the minutes that Kaman gets on the Clippers hed be putting up the same type of number while being 5 years younger. And and as far as i know Bynum is already better than Kaman defensively.

Because he's pretty much a double double threat playing bench minutes. He has made ton of improvement, even his body looks different. He's the special project of one of the greatest players of all time, Kareem. His vast improvment overtake his tradeability. If this deal with Bynum was not made by the Lakers FO last season why would they make it this season after we have seen what Bynum has to offer along with more improvement to come. So if it means that no deal is going to be made without Bynum I'm sure the Lakers would rather make it a no deal. The Lakers are looking for expiring contracts, round picks and young talent (excluding Bynum) type of deal for a team that is wanting to go into rebuilding mode that has players that can contribute to the Lakers right now and so far if it means wasting Kobe's prime then that's the way the Lakers FO has set it to be.
