The Lakers don't need Kidd
He's a point guard who relies on controlling the ball more than any Kobe has ever played with. The triangle doesn't need that one main player to facilitate the offense. Jackson's never relied on his point guard to carry the brunt of the load as far as handling the ball, traditionally, they've been guys who are capable point guards, but more shooters than anything else.
In Odom, Kobe and Walton, they have enough main ball distributors. None of them outside of Kobe are guys that have the ball a majority of the time. I think bringing in Kidd is an experiment that won't end up being worth it. Bringing him in would force Kobe farther off the ball than he's been, and though he'd probably defer to Kidd, what will it say to Kobe that in a year that he's been looking to make plays for his teammates more than ever, you bring in one of the best playmakers ever? I'm not sure bringing in a guy like Kidd won't be an ego hit on Kobe either.
The perfect fit for this team is Bibby, because he actually fits the triangle. He's a capable shooter, can play off the ball, and is used to playing with a team of talented passers. The Lakers are barking up the wrong tree. IMO, they don't even need a star PG, they just need someone more capable of moving the ball around, but more importantly, they need to be an efficient scorer. Andre Miller isn't the best scorer, but he'd be the better fit. He's a good playmaker, fair shooter, but he's hardnosed and will play defense, the number one thing the Lakers should work on IMO.
Kidd would force a pretty major offensive philosophy switch, and they don't need that trying to make a splash in the playoffs. They already see what's going on with the Nuggets and Iverson, and Kidd has less time than Iverson as an elite player.
Agewise, salarywise, and oncourt, Kidd to the Lakers isn't a good move.
Thoughts?

Agree with you there. What the Lakers need is not a true PG, instead they need a guard who can shoot, and defend.

Re: The Lakers don't need Kidd
I disagree very much with you but I do hope Kidd gets traded to the Lakers. Getting back Farmar, Kwame and a first pick in a deep draft with the lakers might end up being in the lottery would benefit this team longterm. Also gets rid of Jason Collins contract.

Well from your side you'd probably want to do it, but Lakers fans shouldn't.

the lakers aren't going to have a good pick...
i'd much rather trade with orlando- (hills expiring, better picks, and carlos arroyo or darko)

Re: The Lakers don't need Kidd
Would it be very different than what the Lakers have and do right now? Absolutely, but Kidd and Kobe would work spectacularly well together, IMO. And this is coming from the king of the Kobe-haters. One thing that Kobe does... is attack. And that's what Kidd does too. He is the master of attacking a defense and getting the ball to aggressive players where they can do something w/ it (this is also why he and Vince are like oil and water on the court).

I hope this one happens. So that crazy mitch won't have to waive Kidd like he waived Grant.

How do you know? They've been stumbling as of late.
We're hoping to trade Carter for Darko, BTW. Please, god, make it happen.
