Detroit showing why they are perenial title contenders, and the Suns perenial title pretenders. Definitely a statement game. Detroit is so different with Webber there. You almost have to throw out their record going into the playoffs.
With Detroit playing like this, Miami on fire, and the Lebron playing amazing for the Cavs, the east playoffs are going to be a lot better than eastern conference haters think. And the NBA champion could once again reside in the east come next season.
Yeah. I can't see Phoenix winning a game in the playoffs, let alone making it to the Finals.
I've never subscribed to the East is weak idea but I have subscribed to certain franchises just sucking 100% of the time. I don't think going through Spurs/Mavs/Suns/Jazz should make the Finals any more difficult for whoever gets there.
That's just a poor excuse. Personally, I think conferences are stupid but that's an argument/discussion for another time, maybe never.

If that statement is that they can beat Phoenix when Flip Murray single handedly outscores Shawn Marion, Raja Bell, Leandro Barbosa and James Jones combined, then I agree with you. Off nights happen, Phoenix went into Detroit and won not too long ago.
Sigh. Have to hand it to Detroit, they poked the ball loose so many times while clogging the middle that the Suns were simply scared to drive. They locked them down. Tough one to swallow.

Flip had a fantastic game, but you realize that Chauncey got injured and only played one quarter? Chauncey was having a good game himself and always plays phx well. Chauncey was also injured when Phoenix beat Detroit, and it was the first game without him and we were suffering.
Maybe the statement is the Pistons blew out Phoenix by 20+ and held them to 83 points. Detroit's defense was great. Lots of traps for Nash without leaving much open.
By the way - who saw the dunk of the night by Chris Webber? That was a retro CWebb dunk. I bet it will be on sportscenter or nba.com soon.

Even more impressive, they beat the Suns 57-40 in the second half without Billups. With Lindsey Hunter suspended that meant Flip Murray and Tayshaun Prince had to split point guard duties and the offense still ran without a hitch.
Everybody knows Phoenix is weak in the middle and with Rasheed Wallace, Chris Webber, and Antonio McDyess, there isn't a team in the league better equiped to exploit that.
Speaking of Webber, the guy is looking SPRY. He threw down a driving two handed reverse in the first half that looked like something out of 1995.
That's a 5-0 western conference road trip for Detroit. They are really gearing up for the playoffs.
