scoring question

can you score a basket if you bounce the ball into the basket from the floor?

Re: scoring question

If it goes through the net completely it's a field goal.Nothing in the rule books says anything about how it arrives there

Re: scoring question

I think they may give it to the player that was closest to the hoop when it happened, kind of like how they do the same thing when the opposing team accidentally hits the ball into the wrong basket.

Re: scoring question

Heres a tough one, what if you shoot from you own net (beyond the 3 point line) it then bounces inside the 3 point line and goes in, is it a 2 or a 3?

Re: scoring question

Well if the ball were launched and bounced on the baseline/out of bounds and then it went in, it would be considered out so i guess it would be a 2 by that reasoning.

Re: scoring question

I got one:

What if you jump from behind the 3 point line without the ball, then catch the ball in mid air but well inside the 3 point line and tip it in? Is it a 2 or a 3?

Re: scoring question

I used to wonder what would happen if someone launched a full court shot at the buzzer, and the ball bounced once (after the buzzer) and went in. Would that count?

I don't think it would. I think the floor deads the play, and while if you bounced it in, it would count as long as their was time on the clock, but it would go to the closest player to where the ball bounced. If it bounces inside the three point line, it's a 2. When the ball hits the floor, it basically acts as a new shot attempt by the closest player to where it bounced (only if it goes in, if not then it's just a loose ball obviously).
