I think the Suns can beat the Mavericks but will have trouble with the Spurs. The Spurs are still a very good and experienced playoff team that was part of the real WCF 7 game series last year, and won the title the year before. The Spurs are really the only team that can make things very difficult for the Suns with their defense, as evidence by that game the other night. The percentages don't lie, and it wasn't just an off-game, because if you watched the game you'd see that the types of looks they were getting were highly contested. The pace was exactly how the Spurs wanted it. They're the only team in the league that's better than the Suns at controlling pace.

Suns don't want to see the Spurs, Spurs don't want to see the Mavericks, Mavericks don't want to see the Suns. It's a triangle like that. These matchups are inevitable though and it should be interesting. The Mavericks have the upper hand because they get to wait out the winner of the Spurs/Suns.

Not great logic, considering Shaq made the Heat instant contenders after they had won one round in the previous two years.
