During the extreme drought of the early '90s, Dallas continually received a lower pick than their lottery standing would deserve. Even at 13-69, they received the worst possible pick - #4 – that they could.

I have to say getting to the finals and losing is definitely tougher to deal with. Last year, the Pistons blitzed through the entire regular season, and they seemed like they were far and away the best team in the league, so it was certainly dissapointing to see them flame out against Miami like they did. I was shell shocked, but I got over it quicker than I thought i would. They were thouroghly outplayed in the entire series and didn't deserve to win. Last year, even though they had the best record, it was clear that they were not the best team in the playoffs.
The loss in the 05 finals is a different matter. That game 7 loss HURT, and it still does. They were so close to repeating, and if it wasn't for Rasheed Wallace's boneheaded play in game 5, they would have. I thought that in 05 they were every bit as good as the Spurs, and I still believe that. That makes it far tougher to deal with, in my opinion.
