I disagree somewhat...Yao scores very well inside. But he does indeed get pushed off the block at times, and it's not a surprise. Despite his lower body strength, his center of gravity is just plain higher than everyone else's. That puts him at something of a disadvantage against the cinderblocks of the league, like Boozer.

Re: Top 5 Low-Post Players, Offense
Yao is a good scorer inside, but he's not more likely to score or draw a foul than the guys I mentioned. You're taking this as an insult when it's not. He's good, just not better than any of the 5 I mentioned. All are better scorers. They can convert their trips into points more often than he can.
On second note I might take Gasol down or off the list, but not for Yao.

I don't think you know what you're talking about. First off, I would take off Stoudemire from your second list. Like I said to Amareca, Amare doesn't necessarily "establish position." He cuts to the basket alot more, because Nash can break defenses down. He never plays like a true center by waiting for an entry pass. I'm not taking anything away from Amare's game, but it's simply the way Suns' offense is executed.
I'm glad that you are willing to take Gasol off your list, so I will not go further into his inclusion.
Yao is easily top 5 on the first list. If you contend otherwise, you have not watched him play enough. He has easily one of the best shots in the league when he has the ball down in the paint.

Re: Top 5 Low-Post Players
aren't passing and not turning the ball over part of low post offense?

Re: Top 5 Low-Post Players, Offense
Curry should be on both of these. Diogu might be if he got 30+ a game and adequate touches.

Yao scores more than any of those guys, and does it very efficiently. He may not get to the line more often than them, but he hits 87% of his free throws, and that's part of it. And he plays almost exclusively in the post. He does not get many shots created for him. No one's taking this as an insult. But it's just absurd when guys like Stoudemire, Howard and Gasol are rated as better low post scorers. How do you think Yao gets most of those 25 ppg? Pick-and-rolls? Elbow jumpers? Putbacks?

Yao does an awful job of getting deep into the post sometimes, like he showed against Utah. He needs to be finishing or drawing fouls at the rim, not shooting eight or ten foot jumpers. A more imaginative offense would help, but Yao needs to learn to get better position. Until then, I don't know if he's on this list.

^ Yao doesn't belong, yet Eddy Curry does? Did you watch the Rockets-Knicks games this season?

the first post gives two seperate lists. the first list is for scoring when you are in the low post. yao is no question in the top 5 on that list. the second list is for getting low post position. yao should not be top 5 there.
