This is such a wash. Both players would offer good things for whatever franchise or team they were with. I don't think it'll ever be that one is better than the other.

This is usually a no-brainer for me (Deron Williams) but since Paul just destroyed the Nuggets single-handedly with the slowest, most blatant and most methodical pick and roll offense you'll ever see, I'll go with Paul this time.
Paul had an awful game tonight...the near triple double notwithstanding.Denver really packed it in against him and the shooters didn't hit shots. The Hornets won tonight with good defense mostly.
Like I said before, Deron Williams will be an excellent star point guard, but Chris Paul will become a superstar. I actually see Deron Williams staying at this level (not a bad thing), with Felton and T.J. Ford elevating their games to contend with his. Meanwhile, Chris Paul will become better than them, and be the leader of a group of perennial contenders.
"If you've ever seen Iverson play in person, you know that his improvisational skills are amazing. Baron Davis calls him unguardable. He's a killer on the fast break. One on one, even one on two, when the guy they call the Answer is on a one-way trip to the basket, you better just foul him. People can hate all day about the number of shot attempts. But, damn, give him props for even getting them up. He's small enough to have every shot contested. That 39% shooting sounds terrible to the regular reader, but have you seen these NBA players lately?"

FAVORITE TEAM: (whatever team Allen Iverson is on) OTHER FAVORITES: Memphis, New York, New Orleans, Charlotte, Philadelphia, Indiana, Denver TOP 5 FAVORITE PLAYERS: Allen Iverson, OJ Mayo, TJ Ford, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony OTHER FAVORITES: Adam Morrison, Samuel Dalembert, Michael Redd, Salim Stoudemire, Rajon Rondo, Caron Butler, Emeka Okafor, Kobe Bryant, Randy Foye, Jermaine O'Neal, JJ Redick, Marcus Camby, Kyle Lowry, Andre Iguodala, Sasha Vujacic, Acie Law, Thaddeus Young, Joakim Noah, Tony Parker, Javaris Crittenton, Brandon Roy, Michael Beasley, DJ Agustin (favorite rookies: Ricky Rubio, Tyreke Evans, Stephen Curry, Brandon Jennings, Earl Clark, Jrue Holiday, Tyler Hansbrough, Jeff Teague)
I'll probably change my perspective as they continue with their careers but right now..
I see Deron Williams as a better Andre Miller, better range, scoring ability and shot. Playmaking skills and style are similar.
I see Chris Paul as a better offensive mini Jason Kidd.... instinct based play making, speed, quickness etc. Obviously not as versatile or proficient in the defensive end, lack of size etc. But Chris Paul is a pretty good rebounder for his size.
In the end, both are different style of point guard yet will dominate that position.....

Oh, by the way these guys are playing against each other tonight. Very meaningful match-up, as one was the hottest team in the league, and the other is IS the hottest team in the league.
Deron slightly out-edging Paul so far, and his team leads by 11 at half.
