Re: Orlando is quietly 8-2
Might stay the same, because if you look at the records, the East is still ***!

I hadn't even seen your post before I posted my comments, but I never thought we were all that good last year. I do this year, though.

Re: Orlando is quietly 8-2
They're a lot better then last year in terms of there offense. Dump it down to Howard who holds great position most of the time and if that's not there rotate till you find somebody open on 3 point line or have Hedo/Nelson drive and kick back to Howard or 3 point line.

Re: Orlando is quietly 8-2
It really helps to have Lewis on board. Plus, another year of maturity for Jameer and Dwight. It's a shame to see Grant go and Darko was just getting into his groove, but this team is at least good enough to win a series or two in the East, much like Utah last season.

So should I dig up that "Orlando or Utah?" thread from last year?

Re: Orlando is quietly 8-2
They'll at least make it to the playoffs, which isn't what I predicted at the start of the season.

One on one, even one on two, when the guy they call the Answer is on a one-way trip to the basket, you better just foul him. People can hate all day about the number of shot attempts. But, damn, give him props for even getting them up. He's small enough to have every shot contested. That 39% shooting sounds terrible to the regular reader, but have you seen these NBA players lately?"

Re: Orlando is quietly 8-2
i think orlando will be a lot like utah of last season, regarding the playoffs.
they can take out a few of the weaker teams like the jazz did with golden state, probly get to the 2nd round, then they lose to a better team (Celts, Pistons, mayb cavs, heat or bulls). they can take out any other team, the cavs/heat/bulls wuld giv them a gud series probly.

Re: Orlando is quietly 8-2
People referencing to last year are either dumb, ignorant or haven't seen enough of the Magic this year and last year to even compare so maybe they should keep quiet
As far as being an eastern power, I believe they will win their division and probably get around 50 or more wins this year. They will compete for the conference, but I doubt they win it because they are a very young basketball team. Only 4 players on the entire roster are over the age of 30. One is on the I/R, one gets no minutes and the other two are just ok. Needless to say it would be shocking to me if they came out of the east this year. They have some more maturing to do. I think in another year or so, the Magic could be a legit NBA championship contender. They have a good to great starting lineup, but they need to fill some holes when it comes to their bench, which will be accomplished next offseason. Battie will be back, Fran will be coming over from Spain, the Magic will have the MLE to use and they will have a 1st round pick. All in all they should be a much improved team next year over this year, just like they are a much improved team this year over last year.

Dwight Army? Aw, isn't that cute! You think of that all by yourself? Give yourself a nice pat on the back.
So witty you are! So witty!

If by Eastern Conference contender you mean possibly better than everyone else besides Boston and Detroit then yes. Boston, no. Detroit, no. I don't think Orlando is that far in terms of talent from Detroit but Detroit has Orlando's number and seems to be a really bad matchup. In the playoffs, they'd probably kill us again.
