Glad Cook is gone...too bad it couldn't be Cook for Ariza straight up. I liked Mo Evans.

In the right system, Ariza can be a beast. Unfortunately, Ariza was a huge liability for us on the offense this season. For those of you that saw the Celtics/Magic game, Paul Pierce completely left Ariza on offense to cover our shooters. He'll play great alongside Kobe Bryant, the Magic were just too logged-jammed at the 3 for him to get enough playing time.
As much as I hate to see Ariza go, I can actually see this trade working in the Magic's favor. It gives us a few things. Cook will be able to play the opposing team's second-string 4's on defense and give the Magic another shooter to help rest some of their starters. What I'm really excited about is the addition of Maurice Evans. Hopefully, this is the beginning of what will come to be the long-awaited departure of Pat Garrity and Carlos Arroyo. Keyon will slide over and take full control of the reserve PG role and Evans will be our second string SG. Hopefully we can then package arroyo and garrity (expiring contracts) for someone who can at least hit the broad side of a barn.

Orlando, FL – The Orlando Magic have acquired forward Brian Cook and guard Maurice Evans from the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for forward Trevor Ariza, General Manager Otis Smith announced today. In addition, the Magic have waived forward Bo Outlaw.
“Brian (Cook) helps bolster our frontcourt,” said Smith. “He is a power forward who shoots the ball extremely well, while also bringing added toughness to our roster. Maurice (Evans) is a tremendous athlete, a solid defender and capable of playing multiple positions. Both Brian and Maurice fit in very well with what we are trying to accomplish.”
Smith also added: “Trevor (Ariza) is a great talent and we certainly wish him well. We also thank Bo (Outlaw) for everything he has done for our organization as a player.”

F*** that! Cool his a** off then."
